I understand that Expansions were made with Maschine in mind. I do not own Maschine but I do own Massive, Reaktor etc. Are Expansions still useful without Maschine? And how do I tell which expansions have Massive and Reaktor presets included with them
Maschine expansions can be useful also in other programs, even third party ones (and not only for the other NI synths, also for all the other sounds/samples that comes with them, easily accessible in the free Komplete Kontrol but, once again, also in third party programs, like Ableton or what else)
This was a question I had as it seems most of the synth presets are scattered amongst the various expansions but each may have only around 5-15 max if any so it's not really cost effective to buy them on that basis, even in the current sale. Most seem to be Massive presets but it seems there are also a few for Prism (Reaktor) and maybe some others? It would have been great to have an expansion that collates all those patches for those of us not interested in the samples and beat related stuff
I have used Cubase as my DAW for years, so I have found Battery 4 very useful for using my expansions. I even found that I can set separate outputs for individual drums that way. I usually only need to route the snare separately, but I have done others. That video by Jeff Gibbons is really good, too. But mainly I take advantage of my expansions with Battery and Massive.
Need advice. My M+ only installed the expansions until N letter (alphabetically). For instance, Molten Veil is installed on M+, but Neon Drive not. And it is not available for install. But I have it available for install on laptop. Neon Drive is compatible with M+.
@Rico010 Just be super patient when you're rescanning because it looks like Native Access is running incredibly slow at the moment with so much traffic. (I presume that it must be the same underlying system that M+ is using to validate installations.)
Sorted out. A library scan helped with it. I saw the missing expansions on the SD card connected to the laptop. Then hit the library rescan in standalone mode. All missing expansions are available now.
I suppose it behaves exactly like it should in M+ Every single part of code which deals with large list of items is buggy OOB. User sample browser was broken (fixed now), Text Entry dialog is broken and it doesnt look they are going to fix it, and this new one... Just report it to support and try to live without it until fix is out.
Sorry if this is a stupid suggestion but have you checked your SD for a lock switch? Some have that to prevent writing to it and it's easy to accidentally turn it on. Also test writing to the SD ina a computer if you can.
Hello everyone Newbie to maschine altogether but not to this type of gear. I had sky hi hopes for this to take mt game to the platinum level.. Grammy that is.. but odley I have checked all the witty answers and serious ones and am having the same load issues...
I have no idea why NI decided to ship with a micro SD+Adaptor for such a huge device, Micro SD is meant for tiny things like smartphones, action cams, etc... In the DSLR/Camera world for example brands have a list of "compatible cards" with a small number of reputable brands only even tho technically any card should work, surely there's a reason for this... Based on my experience tiny cards can cause issues but I cannot be certain that's the exact cause of your installation problems.
I had this happen a while back and it turned out all I had to do was go to Settings - Library then select the RESCAN button (#4 I think) . The little spinning indicator will take a while but once it finished all of my expansions were back again.

You can load the samples into the Digitakt. Any other stuff that comes with the NI packs is incompatible. I have a lot of the Maschine Expansions loaded into my AR and DT, the samples work great with the Elektrons.
Id take a look into the infos before. NI tells you how many samples, one-shots, loops and other wav files are inside. I bought the Transistor Punch expansion and a few others although I dont have a Maschine to use the samples. But there are expansions that consist mainly of patches for massive or drum synths that you couldnt use with the Digitakt.
I've only downloaded a few free machine kits and the samples are clean *.wav files so why does one need to 're-record' all the samples?! (I prefer to rip-out things clean when ever possible without 're-sampling').

I just used cyberduck and moved all my maschine packs over. They stay organized without having to load kits to find a sound. I can scroll the different kits and test each sound.
lol I thought I did mention it in the video. But yes your are right I am nuts and I did take alot of time but Im done and it was completely worth having my maschine samples in bm3. I came from $1000 Komplete 10 Ultamate, $1000 Maschine studio, $400 maschine jam, over $500 in maschine expansions e$700 Komplete Kontrol s61 So when you spend all that money I wanted to use it with my ipad and couldn't, So I imported what I wanted in BM#. When you look at it from my perspective it makes more sense lol
Obviously you only pass the samples you want, and creating kits in BM3 takes a lot less time than going through all those hoops, add to this the fact that you now just have samples and are not structuring yourself to rigidly set kits but creating kits per session.
Just seems like a lot of work to limit yourself to preset kits.
Each to their own though
