Loyal fans of Preston's Paradise....
Sorry we haven't been in touch much lately, but I'm sure you appreciate the email break as much as we've enjoyed hanging out with our neighbors over the cold months.
But it's spring now and we really need your help with two projects.

First, this Monday, May 9, we need a few people to help load a trailer with wood chunks from a downed tree that we're hauling to fairmount park.  We'll be starting at 7pm and I promise to feed and saturate anyone who can make it.  Please RSVP so I can give you more details.

Second, we've been battling with HUD over the last few months, but we finally got the approval to replace their usual boring grass and shrubs with a full-scale permaculture orchard around a new home for autistic adults in our neighborhood.  We'll be working with volunteers from POP, the Art Institute culinary program, and Autism Living and Working to prepare the site, mulch, and plant over two days next Friday and Saturday (5/13-14).  Both Phil (from POP), Suzy, and I have to attend to other things on Friday afternoon so we really need someone to step up and be a site coordinator for Friday at 1pm until 3pm or so.  Basically just directing people where to put mulch and pointing the way to the bathroom - nothing complicated.

Even if you can't be a site coordinator, we'd love to have your help with the orchard installation on Friday and Saturday from 10am until 3pm both days.  We'll be at the corner of Preston and Ogden - can't miss us.

Thank you all again, and keep an eye out for the return of the mobile farmstand and community meals happening in June!

Peace and beets.
