Happy rainy day everyone!
We're still working on moving to a new newsletter system, but in the meantime I'll try to keep sending unobtrusive updates via this googlegroup.
First up, don't forget to sign up for the Greensgrow CSA, which starts next week! Lots of pictures on the website (
www.greensgrow.org/csa), and you can select pickup in West Philly at the Fresh Food Hub on Thursday evenings. If you sign up today or tomorrow, you get an invitation to the CSA welcome party happening on Thursday evening!
Also, if you're not following the
Fresh Food Hub on Facebook, you're missing out. We just celebrated our 500th customer in less than 3 weeks, and there are all kinds of local and organic items coming out as the season progresses. We'll still have fresh strawberries and asparagus this week, plus all your favorites like toscano kale, fresh salad mix, baby spinach, avocados, alfalfa sprouts, and even peanuts on the half shell. We're considering going 6 days per week in June, so come out now and show some love to our wonderful staff. The Fresh Food Hub is open at 37th and Lancaster from Weds-Saturday starting at noon.
Finally, there's a lot of planning going on for what phase 2 of the Fresh Food Hub looks like. One idea we're exploring is to open a cooperative grocery store/restaurant on the Avenue. We're still looking for ideas and suggestions for how folks like you - our loyal supporters - would like to be involved in the project's future. Would you work a few hours a week for a discount on fresh food? Would you come out to community gardening days to build our network of local suppliers? Would a small grocery store be enough to get you out to Lancaster Avenue in your daily routine?
Comment on Facebook or send us emails with your thoughts. Keep an eye out for more information and questions coming down the line soon.
Otherwise, stay dry today and keep up with those weeds! See you at the truck!
