Statement from GM Asylum Seekers on Living in Hotels

[Preston City of Sanctuary]

 We are sharing this powerful statement from a group of asylum seekers which expresses their feelings and aspirations. Please read it and share it widely as a way of countering the current hostile narrative about sanctuary seekers.

While this is has been written by the people living in Greater Manchester hotels and we don’t have any SERCO hotels in Preston there is much to take away from this heartfelt message. The Tickled Trout accommodation is not a SERCO enterprise but a MOD resource for people who worked for the British Army in Afghanistan, but we know that many of the people housed there are experiencing the same issues. They are sad and upset but these feelings are exacerbated by the anti- migrant protests held outside of the hotel.
