Fake Case of Mukhtaran Mai

Dear All,
Qur'aan says: 'Do not say anything without confirmation'
Let's investigate and for this purpose please visit Meerwala, the village of
Mukhtar Mai.
From 2004 to 2010, I visited Meerwala Tehsil Jatoi several times and spend a
number of days there. I met, interviewed, investigated and cross questioned a
number of people there after the decision of Anti Terrorist Court Dera Ghazi
Khan. Before this decision I knew a lot about this case but cannot write on the
issue became the case was under trial and keeping in view the professional
ethics I was bound.
For God sake please investigate, please investigate and please investigate,
please confirm the following facts:
1- In all the statements of Mukhtar Mai before the court and before police and
also in her statement of 164, PPC she not claimed that gang rape had been done
with her.
2- No example is present in the whole world that sperms/swabs can be present on
the outer side of the body after 10 days. But in this particular case in the
month of hot June can it be possible that during those 10 days she not used
water on any part of her body. There was no AC or chiller in Mukhtar Mai's house
because there was no electricity in that area then how it is possible that
during these 10 days no perspiring (Paseena) was came out from her body to
dissolve or remove the symptom of swabs.
3- During my professional career I had seen a number of rape cases as I had been
Resident Editor Khabrein Multan and Islamabad as well as Resider Editor Ausaf
Multan. In all the rape cases I have seen a number of cuts, scars of the forced
raped women. You all can see please, the medical report; no sign of cut even
scar were present on the body of Mukhtar Mai and in all statements in media she
quoted this medical report. Actually this report was made by police and
forcefully signed by lady doctor posted at Jatoi.
4- The brother of Mukhtar Mai Abdul Shakoor was not 12 years old, he was 19
years old and he was involved in ugly relation with Salma Mai sister of Abdul
Khaliq Mastoi and Abdul Shakoor is now 29 years old. According to Mukhtar Mai's
claim of sodomy with her brother Abdul Shakoor is just fake and nothing else.
Actually the family of Mukhtar Mai was more rich than Mastois even in 2002 when
the fake incident took place. Her father Ghulam Fareed Tatla had a tractor,
Timber Aara machine and was honor of small land. On the other side Mastoi was
landless and just 'Mazaras'. They cultivate crop on rental land not more than
there Acors. Salma Mai was in love with Abdul Shakoor and everyone of the area
well aware about this ill relation. Abdul Shakoor wanted to marry her but the
father of Abdul Shakoor was claiming a davery of 40000 which was not affordable
for poor Mastoi's.
5- No evidence in the favor of Mukhtar Mai was present on record from Mirwala
'her own village'.
6- No evidence of 'Punchayat' was found to all investigation agencies.
7- The only convicted Abdul Khaliq who is still behind the bars is not alleged
of the gang rape case.
8- In her all statements even in 164 before Magistrate Mukhtar Mai not even used
the world 'Panchayat' or 'Akhat' or rape with her brother or gang rape with
herself.
9- Even till today the father and mother of Mukhtar Mai cannot say this on oath.
10- Please go there, please meet the residents of Meerwala, and please call the
concerns in the mosque for oath. Please investigate please. It is the
responsibility of all patriot Pakistanis.
11- Here I want to ask a question to 'All these opportunity availed NGO's which
are claiming their love with Mukhtar Mai, crying and throwing elephant tears for
her'
If Mukhtar Mail would be the part of their family then what would be their
response?

I also watched the television program 'Kharri Baat Luqman kay saat\'. You and

I was myself shocked seeing Mukhtara Mai shaking hands with the French President in front of cameras and media in Paris. Without the verdict or evidence, the way Mukhtaran Mai (alongwith the NGO's) met with global leaders, media and what not, this shows a one-sided hypocrisy and an act of treason against her own homeland. West took full advantage of her situation and she allowed it all to happen. It is all beyond comprehension that how the daughter of Eve can fake rape or sexual harassment. Let's wait to see those poor ones who have been behind bars for last 10 years take up their own legal position against her in front of the recently-liberated Judiciary of Pakistan. You can't imprison a person until he/she is proven guilty.
Pakistan is a confused nation of people divided between religion and secularism. Millions of those who died thinking they were dying for the cause of Islam back in 1947 and ever since then, seems to have little connection with the present day Pakistan, its Government and the "elite" class. This country will definitely set an example of the largest and the bloodiest revolution in the human history very soon, thanks to all of the global powers pitted against the people of Pakistan. We are not Arabs and we are not Indians. We are more like Aryans (right in the midst of Indus Valley) where human civilization set its foots first time. And whatever "civilization" is being imposed by the "elite" of Pakistan via load shedding, suicide bombings and drone attacks, it will be very soon a thing of a past. But all of us have to go through something very painful, very strange and something un-heard of. I'm not having parrots around me, sitting on some street telling the fortune of Pakistan for 10 Rupees. Just research a bit about Zionism, Hindu mindset and the "Western" nukes.

Those who have thought of this world's life and its luxuries as the "only" thing they'd ever care, it will hit straight into their faces. Just take a look back and you see a smiling Mai going all around the world
telling people she was gang raped. Would she have the courage to tell the people
of this country how much money she has earned in grants and sympathy with her
World Tours?
She is nothing but an imposter who has tried to cash in on something terrible.
Would she please tell the world about her financial position before and after
the incident?
Would Ms. Mai please stand up and tell the world about how she has so easily
managed to malign Pakistan by telling the world that this is the worst place to

years, can we have access to her tax returns?
Standing up for your rights is different and maligning your country for
financial gains is a different story. Ms. Mai we need to have a look at your
bank statement, your tax returns and your umpteen visas before we decide on how
badly you have been treated in this country which even after a terrible incident
has given you a lot - this is enough

Thanks Sumera Ali, Abdul Khaliq has not been convicted on rape case. His
marriage with Mukhtar mai through SHARIE Nikah have been accepted by High and
Supreme Courts but court declared it bad intention of Abdul Khaliq so he was
given 25 years imprisonment. This Nikah was read by Molvi Abdul Razaq who gave
application against Mastois because they disobeyed the verbal agreement and not

Dear, Court have not punished Abdul Khaliq on rape case. High Court and then supreme courts have accepted the Sharie nikah of Mukhtar mai with him but considered it bad intention of Abdul Khaliq. This Nikah was read by Abdul Razzaq. According to that verbal agreement abdul Shakoor brother of Mukhtar Mai and Salma mai sister of abdul Khakiq would be married on 28 june but they betrayed and gave her nikah to some one else. Next day Molvi Razzaq said in Juma prayer that Gang rape occurred in meer wala and then illiterate Mukhtar mai was called Hafiz e Quran.

What said by Mian Ghafar is truth all. I have covered this case in supreme court
and before the court ahtzaz ahsan, the lawyer of mukhtar mai had no argument but
again again he was arguing of fir. because there was no evidence. Surely because
of this fake rape case the ngo,s just tried to create bad name for Pakistan only
for grants. These ngo,s hav no concern for Pakistan, Its our duty to save
Pakistan from such few foreign-funded ngos. Certainly they will make agitation
because when the truth came out their shops will be closed.

آئیے،ان نام نہاد تحفظِ حقوقِ نسواں کی این جی اوز کا طریقہ واردات سمجھنے کی کوشش
کرتے ہیں۔
یہ این جی اوز سب سے پہلے دوردراز علاقے کی ایسی مظلوم ناخواندہ خاتون کو بہلا
پھسلا کر اپنے جال میں پھنساتی ہیں جو بدقسمتی سے ہمارے معاشرتی ناانصافی کا شکار
ہوتی ہیں۔ واضح رہے کہ ہمارے معاشرے میں مظلوم عورت اور مرد میں تشخیص نہٰں، سب ہی
طاقتور سماج دشمن عناصر کے ظلم کا شکار ہیں لیکن دیکھا گیا ہے کہ شہر کی پڑھی لکھی
سمجھدار خاتون آسانی سے قابو نہیں آتی انکے۔-
یہ این جی اوز اِن مظلوم خواتین سے اپنی مرضی کے بیانات دلواتی ہیں بلکہ ان این جی
اوز کے پبلک ریلیشن آفیسیرز ہی سب بیانات وغیرہ میڈیا کیلئے تیار کرتے ہیں جنکا
مقصد پاکستانی مردوں کو خونخوار بھیڑیا ثابت کرکے اس دشوار اور طویل جنگ کیلئے مغرب
سے امداد طلب کرنا ہو۔ جتنا بڑا رائی کا پہاڑ ہو گا، اتنی زیادہ غیرملکی امداد اور
ملک و قوم کی بدنامی ہو گی۔
میڈیا بیان تو تیار ہو گیا اب اسکو اخبارات، ٹی وی چینل میں کیسے نشر کیا جائے؟ اِس
کیلئے ہمارے میڈیا میں کام کرنے والی وہ شارٹ کٹ کی متلاشی خواتین جنکا کوئی نہ
کوئی مرد رشتہ دار بھی میڈیا کے شعبے سے وابستہ ہوتا ہے، ان کو اپنی خدمات پیش کرتی
ہیں۔
این جی اوز کو خوش کرنے کیلیے جھوٹی گمراہ کن خبریں تو وہ نہایت ڈھٹائی سے اپنے
اخبار میں شائع کرتی ہی ہیں بلکہ خواتین جرنلسٹ کے نام پر وومن فورم بھی بنا ڈالتی
ہیں تا کہ ایک طرف تو پاکستانی خواتین صحافیوں کی نمایئندگی کا ڈھونگ رچا کر ان
غیرسرکاری تنظیموں سے فنڈ بٹورے جایئں دوسری طرف میڈیا کے شعبے میں نئی آنے والی
ینگ خواتین کو روشن مستقبل کے سبز باغ دکھا کر فورم کا ممبر بناکر نیٹ ورک بڑھایا
جائے اور انہیں امریکا کے سہانے دوروں کے فارم بھرنا سِکھا کر این جی اوز کی پریس
کوریج کرائی جائے۔ بتایا جاتا ہے کہ پریس کلب ملک بھر کی خواتین صحافیوں کیلئے
کانفرنس کا انعقاد کر رہا ہے،
بعد میں پتا چلتا ہے کہ یہ تو اصل میں این جی اوز کا سپانسرڈ شو تھا جسکا مقصد مرد
صحافیوں کو عورتوں کا رسیا اور عیاش ثابت کرنا تھا۔ ردعمل میں ہونے والی جائز تنقید
کو بھی کیش کرانے کی کوشش ہو رہی ہے لیکن سچ کہا ہے ابھی کِسی صحافی بھائی نے یہ
2004 نہیں 2011 ہے، دودھ کا دودھ اور پانی کا پانی۔
تمام اخبارات کے ایڈیٹر حضرات پر بھاری ذمہ داری عائد ہوتی ہے کہ وہ ان تمام خواتین
رپورٹرز جو ایسی نام نہاد این جی اوز کے زیرسایہ جلنے والے وومن فورم کی ممبر ہیں،
کی رپورٹس نہائت چھان بین کے بعد شائع کریں تاکہ وہ اپنی ناسمجھی میں ِان شاطر این
جی اوز کی حقائق کے منافی رپورٹنگ کرکےعوام، عدلیہ اور حکومتی اداروں کو گمراہ نہ
کر سکیں۔

جون 2002ء سے دنیا بھر میں پاکستان کی بدنامی کا باعث بننے والے مقدمے کا فیصلہ
بالآخر سپریم کورٹ نے بھی سنا دیا جس میں مقدمے کی مرکزی کردار مختاراں مائی کے
تمام دعوﺅں کو جھوٹا قرار دے دیا گیا ہے اور ایک کے سوا تمام ملزمان کو بری کر دیا
گیا ہے۔ اس کیس کی حقیقت کیا ہے؟ مختاراں مائی کے ساتھ کیا واقعہ پیش آیا تھا اہل
علاقہ کیا کہتے ہیں اور جائے وقوعہ کیا ہے؟
یہ تمام حالات جاننے کے لئے راقم الحروف نے مظفر گڑھ کے موضع میر والا کا خصوصی
دورہ کیا اور ملزمان کے اہل خانہ، اہل علاقہ سے بات چیت کی اور مختاراں مائی کے
مراکز کا دورہ کیا۔ دورے میں یہ بات بالکل کھل کر سامنے آ گئی کہ ہائی کورٹ اور پھر
سپریم کورٹ کے فیصلے بالکل صحیح ہیں سوائے عبدالخالق کی عمر قید کے اور یہ کہ
مختاراں مائی کے تمام دعوے مکمل جھوٹے ہیں۔ مختاراں مائی کے ساتھ اجتماعی زیادتی کا
کوئی واقعہ پیش نہیں آیا تھا اور نہ ہی سرے سے کوئی پنچایت بیٹھی تھی۔ ساری جھوٹی
کہانی میں مرکزی کردار عبدالرزاق نامی اس مولوی کا ہے جس نے مختاراں مائی کا نکاح
پہلے عبدالخالق نامی اس نوجوان سے پڑھایا تھا جس کی بہن سلمہ کے ساتھ مختاراں کے
بھائی عبدالشکور عرف شکورے نے زیادتی کی۔ اسے وہاں کے لوگوں جن میں عبدالخالق بھی
شامل تھا نے پکڑ لیا تھا۔ اس کے بعد عبدالخالق کا خاندان تھانے پہنچا اور مختاراں
کے بھائی گرفتار ہو گئے جس کے بعد صلح اور راضی نامے کیلئے مختاراں کا نکاح باہمی
مشاورت سے عبدالخالق سے کیا گیا۔ اس فیصلے میں دونوں خاندانوں کے سرکردہ لوگ شامل
تھے۔ 10 ہزار روپے کی ادائیگی اور پھر راضی نامے کے بعد مختاراں کے بھائی رہا ہو
گئے تو ان کی نیت خراب ہو گئی اور پھر معاملہ ختم کرنے کیلئے کوششیں شروع ہو گئیں۔
اسی دوران 22 جون کو معمولی جھگڑا ہوا اور پھر مولوی عبدالرزاق نے جو مختاراں مائی
کا قریبی رشتہ دار بھی ہے ،ایک ہفتہ بعد 29 جون کو خطبہ جمعہ کے دوران لوگوں کو کہا
کہ عبدالخالق نے اپنے ماموں کے ساتھ مل کر مختاراں سے جبراً زیادتی کی ہے کیونکہ
دونوں کے گھر پاس پاس ہیں۔ اس کے بعد مولوی عبدالرزاق نے مقامی صحافی مرید عباس کو
لایا اور پھر اس معاملے کو آگے لے جانے کے لئے مختاراں کے باپ اور خاندان کو راضی
کر کے خبر چلا دی اور انہیں ساتھ لے کر تھانے پہنچ گیا۔ خبر چھپتے ہی معاملہ مقامی
سطح سے نکل کر ملکی اور بین الاقوامی سطح پر پہنچ گیا اور ساری صورتحال بدل گئی اور
پھر پاکستان اور اسلام دشمن این جی اوز کو خوب ہتھیار ہاتھ آ گیا اور پھر دنیا بھر
میں ہلچل مچ گئی۔ سارے ڈرامے کو آگے بڑھانے کے لئے مختاراں نے کپڑے بھی پھاڑے۔
زیادتی کے الزام کے 9 دن بعد مختاراں کے جسم کے میڈیکل ٹیسٹ اور کپڑوں کے میڈیکل
معائنے کے بعد جو رپورٹ تیار ہوئی اس میں بھی یہ بات سامنے آئی کہ اس سے ایک شخص نے
زیادتی کی ہے اور ممکن ہے کہ وہ عبدالخالق ہو کیونکہ زیادتی کا سارا ڈرامہ اسی کے
گھر میں رچایا گیا تھا اور اسی بناءپر وہی مجرم بنا اور عمر قید سزا بھی دی گئی۔ 10
سال کے عرصے کے بعد بالآخر مختاراں جھوٹی اور ملزمان سچے ثابت ہو گئے جس سے پاکستان
دشمن این جی اوز اور حلقے اب شدید پریشانی اور مشکلات سے دوچار ہیں اور اب اس مسئلے
کو آگے لے جانے کے لئے بے تاب بھی ہیں۔
مستوئی خاندان کے �وڈیرے اور جاگیردار� بھوکے، ننگے نکلے
مختاراں مائی سمیت اس کے تمام کرتا دھرتا اور ملکی و بین الاقوامی میڈیا جس مستوئی
قبیلے کو انتہائی طاقتور، بااثر اور ظالم و جابر شہرت دیئے بیٹھا ہے، کی حالت زار
یہ ہے کہ اس قبیلے کے تقریباً سبھی خصوصاً گرفتار شدگان کے خاندان مٹی کے گھروندوں
پر رہتے ہیں۔ ان کے گھروں کے باہر دروازے تک نہیں۔ ہر چیز مٹی سے بنی ہوئی ہے۔
گھروں میں کھانے پینے کا سامان دیکھنے کو نہیں ملتا۔ ان کے بچے سارا دن گندے کپڑے
پہنے آوارہ مٹی اور دھول میں کھیلتے رہتے ہیں کیونکہ یہ بچوں کو سکول پڑھانے کی سکت
نہیں رکھتے۔ بچے تھوڑے بڑے ہو جائیں تو وہ محنت مزدوری میں لگ جاتے ہیں ان لوگوں کے
پاس اپنی زمینیں بھی نہیں سوائے فیض احمد جتنے سرپنچ کہا جاتا ہے کوئی بھی خاندان 3
کنال سے زیادہ زمین کا مالک نہیں۔
�ایسے لوگوں کو نہ آنے دیا کرو�،مختاراں کے سیکرٹری کی پولیس کو ہدایت
پاک میڈیا اپ ڈیٹس ڈاٹ کام کی ٹیم جب میروالا کے سارے علاقے کا دورہ کرتی ہوئی آخر
میں مختاراں مائی کے کمپلیکس پہنچی اور مختاراں سے ملاقات کیلئے خواہش ظاہر کی
توپولیس نے اندراج کے بعد اندر بھیج دیا۔ دفتر میں مختاراں سے پہلے اس کا سیکرٹری
نعیم ملک آیا تو وہ مکمل داڑھی اور مکمل باشرع لوگوں کو پہلی مرتبہ اپنے پاس دیکھ
کر ٹھٹھک گیا اور فوراً سمجھ گیا کہ یہ لوگ ان کے مطلب کے نہیں ہیں جس کے بعد اس نے
4 دن کے بعد ملاقات کا �وقت� دے دیا اور پھر جونہی ٹیم باہر آئی تو آہستہ آواز سے
پولیس کو کہنے لگا کہ ایسے لوگوں کو نہ آنے دیا کرو۔ اس کے بعد جب تک پاک میڈیا اپ
ڈیٹس ڈاٹ کام کی ٹیم وہاں سے نکل نہیں گئی وہاں کا ماحول سناٹے کا شکار رہا۔
میڈیا سے ڈرے اور سہمے مستوئی
مختار مائی کیس کے بعد یہاں میڈیا کی ملکی اور بین الاقوامی ٹیموں نے 10 سال سے
یلغار کررکھی ہے لیکن مستوئی خاندان ان ٹیموں سے شدید خوفزدہ ہے کیونکہ سبھی لوگ ان
کے خلاف بیان دیتے اور رپورٹنگ کرتے ہیں۔ �پاک میڈیا اپ ڈیٹس ڈاٹ کام � کی ٹیم کے
سامنے بھی مستوئی یہی شکایت کرتے نظر آئے کہ یہ لوگ ہم سے کچھ پوچھ کر جاتے ہیں اور
ہر بات ہمارے خلاف چھاپتے چلاتے ہیں۔
پاکستان بدنام کرنے والوں کو سخت سزا دی جائے: قومی رہنما
مختاارں مائی کیس میں این جی اوز نے انتہائی شرمناک کردار ادا کیا۔ عدالتی فیصلوں
میں امریکہ کی مداخلت سے ملک کی بدنامی ہو رہی۔ انسانی حقوق کی نام نہاد تنظیمیں
شخصیات پاکستان کے اسلامی تشخص کو برباد کرنے کے لئے امریکی ایجنڈے پر عمل پیرا ہیں۔
ان خیالات کا اظہار پاکستان کے نامور مذہبی، سیاسی و عدلیہ سے تعلق رکھنے والی
شخصیات نے کیا۔ جماعت اسلامی کے مرکزی رہنما اور سیکرٹری جنرل لیاقت بلوچ نے کہاکہ
مختاراں مائی کے مسئلہ پر این جی اوز کا واویلا معنی خیز ہے ان لوگوں کی سرگرمیاں
کسی سے ڈھکی چھپی نہیں۔ عدلیہ نے تمام شواہد اور شہادتوں کے بعد فیصلہ سنایا ہے تو
وہ اب کیوں اعتراض کر رہی ہیں۔ جمعیت علماءاسلام (س) کے سربراہ مولانا سمیع الحق نے
کہا کہ مختاراں مائی کیس من گھڑت ہے اور انسانی حقوق کے علمبرداروں نے انسانیت کی
تذلیل کی انہوں نے کہا کہ جہاں انسانی حقوق کی پنچایتیں ہوتی ہیں وہاں ان این جی
اوز کا کوئی کردار نہیں ہوتا۔ انہوں نے کہاکہ عافیہ صدیقی کے معاملے پر ان کی
زبانیں گنگ ہو جاتی ہیں۔ پاک میڈیا اپ ڈیٹس ڈاٹ کام سے گفتگو کرتے ہوئے اہل سنت و
الجماعت کے رہنما مولانا احمد لدھیانوی نے کہا کہ پورا کیس ایک فراڈ ہے۔ جرم کے
مطابق سزا مختاراں مائی کو ملنی چاہئے۔ یہ این جی اوز امریکہ کی گود میں بیٹھ کر
ملک پاکستان اور عدالتوں کے خلاف پراپیگنڈا کر رہی ہیں امریکی مداخلت کے نقصان پہلے
ہی قوم بھگت رہی ہے۔ جماعة الدعوة کے مرکزی رہنما حافظ سیف اللہ منصور نے کہا کہ
طویل مقدمے کے بعد ثابت ہو گیا ہے کہ یہ سارا ڈرامہ پاکستان کو بدنام کرنے کے لئے
رچایا گیا تھا اب فوری طور پرحکومت اور عدلیہ ان لوگوں کے خلاف سخت نوٹس لے۔
پاکستان کی عزت اچھالنے اور ملک کو بدنام کرنے والے سخت ترین سزا کے مستحق ہیں۔
لاہور ہائی کورٹ بار کے سابق صدر ایڈووکیٹ لطیف سرا نے ہا کہ مختاراں مائی کا کیس
پوری دنیا کے سامنے ہے۔ 10 سال بعد بھی کوئی ثبوت پیش نہیں کیا جا سکا۔ انہوں نے
کہا کہ حالیہ مظاہرے صرف پاکستان میں اقلیتوں کے حوالے سے بدنام کرنے کی سازش ہے۔
اسلامی تعلیمات کا مذاق اڑانے اور مغربی آقاﺅں کو خوش کرنے کیلئے ہے۔ انہوں نے کہ
کہ نام نہاد انسانی حقوق اور دیگر این جی اوز امریکہ کوخوش کرنے اور پاکستان کی
اسلامی شناخت کو ختم کرنے کے لئے اس کیس کو بڑھا چڑھا کر پیش کر رہی ہیں۔
مختاراں ٹی وی پروگرام میں سچ سامنے آتے ہی بھاگ کھڑی ہوئی
مختاراں مائی کے 21اپریل کو سپریم کورٹ نے فیصلہ سنایا تو اسی شام معروف صحافی مبشر
لقمان نے دنیا ٹی وی پر پروگرام میں اس کو موضوعِ بحث بنایا۔ اس پروگرام میں میاں
غفار نامی صحافی نے جب مختاراں مائی کے جھوٹے واقعہ کا پول کھولنا شروع کیا تو
مختاراں نے چند جملوں کے بعد ہی پروگرام چھوڑ دیا اور فوری طور پر مائیک کھول دیئے
اور پروگرام سے بھاگ نکلی۔ یہ پروگرام انٹرنیٹ پر اب بھی ملاحظہ کیا جا سکتا ہے۔
ایک محض نام کی غلطی سے پکڑا گیا، ایک جان بچانے بھاگا اور ڈوب کرمر گیا
مختاراں مائی کیس میں جو لوگ جیلوں میں بند ہیں ان میں سے ایک قیدی فیاض احمد ولد
کریم بخش بھی ہے جو بیٹ رامپور کا رہنے والا ہے۔ اس کی گرفتاری میر والا کے رہائشی
اس نام اور اس ولدیت کے ایک اور شخص کے بدلے ہوئی وہ شخص آج تک گرفتار نہیں ہوا
جبکہ اس کی جگہ دوسرا بے گناہ 10 سال سے جیل میں ہے۔ گرفتاریوں کے ابتدائی ایام میں
جب پولیس نے اندھے چھاپے مارے تھے تو لوگ جانیں بچانے کے لئے بھاگے اس دوران ایک
نوجوان شفیق ولد حضور بخش دریائے سندھ میں جان بچانے کے لئے کود گیا تھا جو وہیں
ڈوب کر مر گیا تھا۔
مختاراں مائی کیس کے بعد علاقے کی 2 مساجد کھنڈر بن گئیں
میر والا، مظفر گڑھ (نامہ نگارخصوصی) مظفر گڑھ کے موضع میر والا میں مختاراں مائی
کیس کے بعد علاقے کی 2 مساجد کھنڈر بن چکی ہیں کیونکہ ان کے امام اور متولی اجتماعی
زیادتی کے الزام میں 10سال سے جیلوں میں ہیں جس کے بعد اب ان مساجد میں نہ تو اذان
ہوتی ہے اور نہ کوئی نماز۔ ان مساجد کا تمام تر نظام تلپٹ ہو چکا ہے اور اب یہ
مساجد مکمل طور پر انہدام کے قریب پہنچ گئی ہیں۔
مختاراں کا اخلاقی کردار واقعہ سے پہلے اوربعد میں بھی مشکوک رہا
پاکستان کو دنیا بھر میں رسوا اور بدنام کروانے والی خاتون مختاراں مائی کا کردار
اور اخلاقی مقام اجتماعی زیادتی کے نام نہاد واقعہ سے بہت پہلے ہی خراب تھا اور
علاقے میں اسے اچھی نگاہوں سے نہیں دیکھا جاتا تھا۔ اسے پہلے شوہر سے بھی طلاق ملی
تھی اور وہ اب اپنے ماں باپ کے گھر میں رہ رہی تھی۔ اس کے پہلے شوہر کو بھی اس کے
کردار پر ہی شک تھا اور بالآخر اس سے تنگ آ کر اس نے اسے طلاق دے دی تھی اس کے بعد
اس کا نکاح اس کے بھائی کے جرم کے بعد صلح کیلئے پڑوسی نوجوان عبدالخالق سے پڑھایا
گیا لیکن وہیں سے ایک نیا ڈرامہ شروع ہو گیا اس کے کردار کے حوالے سے شکوک و شبہات
کو اس بات سے بہت زیادہ تقویت ملتی ہے کہ جب 2002ءمیں اس نے یہ اجتماعی زیادتی کا
ڈھونگ رچا کر عالمی شہرت حاصل کی تو اس کی سکیورٹی پر پولیس اہلکار تعینات ہوئے تو
اس نے انہی میں سے ایک پولیس اہلکار ناصر عباس قبولہ آف ملتان سے خفیہ تعلقات قائم
کر لئے جو تقریباً 2 برس چلتے رہے۔ اس کا اعتراف اس نے خود بھی میڈیا پر کیا ہے اور
پھر 15 مارچ 2009ءکو اس نے اس کانسٹیبل سے جو پہلے ہی شادی شدہ اور 5 بچوں کا باپ
تھا سے بیاہ رچا لیا۔ علاقے میں مشہور ہے کہ یہ شادی بھی �مجبوراً� کی گئی۔
ایک خاتون جس کے 5بھائی اور بیٹا جیل میں ہیں
میر والا میں مستوئی خاندان کی خاتون جو مرکزی ملزم عبدالخالق کی والدہ ہیں سب سے

جون 2009ءکو پاکستان کے ایک قومی روزنامہ ایکسپریس نے خبر شائع کی کہ انسانی حقوق
کی علمبردار مختاراں مائی کی بجلی چوری پکڑی گئی۔ واپڈا کی چھاپہ مار ٹیم پر
مختاراں مائی کے بھائی اور اس کے ساتھیوں نے تشدد کیا اور میٹر و تار چھین لئے۔
تفصیلات کے مطابق واپڈا سب ڈویژن جتوئی کی ٹیم نے لائن سپرنٹنڈنٹ مہر مسعود ایاز کی
سربراہی میں میر والا میں مختاراں مائی کے گھر پر چھاپہ مارا تو مختاراں مائی ویمن
ویلفیئر آرگنائزیشن کے دفتر، ڈیری فارم، گرلز سکول اور رہائش گاہ پر مین لائن سے
ڈائریکٹ تار لگا کر بجلی چوری کی جا رہی تھی۔ ٹیم نے سینکڑوں میٹر تار اور بند میٹر
قبضے میں لے لیا اور اس دوران اطلاع پر شراب کے نشے میں دھت مختاراں مائی کا بھائی
حضور بخش ساتھیوں کے ہمراہ آ گیا اور واپڈا ٹیم پر تشدد کر کے تار اوربند میٹر چھین
لئے اور اہلکاروں کو دھکے دے کر نکال دیا۔ ایس ڈی او اصغر خان لنگاہ اور ایل ایس
مسعود احمد نے بتایا کہ کافی عرصے سے بجلی چوری کی جا رہی تھی ایکسین محمد ایوب نے
بتایا کہ پولیس تھانہ جتوئی کو اندراج مقدمہ کی درخواست دے دی ہے۔ واضح رہے کہ
گزشتہ سال بھی مختاراں مائی کا منی گرڈ اسٹیشن پکڑا گیا تھا لیکن کوئی کارروائی عمل
میں نہیں لائی گئی۔
مختاراں مائی امریکہ اور یورپ کی محبوب ترین شخصیت رہی
مختاراں مائی اول روز سے پاکستان کے لئے بدنامی کا باعث رہی تو دوسری طرف اسے مغربی
دنیا اور امریکہ میں بے انتہا پذیرائی حاصل رہی۔ کینیڈا نے شہریت کی پیش کش کی۔
امریکہ کے اعلیٰ ترین عہدیدار بشمول ہیلری کلنٹن، کانگریس ممبران اسے خوش آمدید
کہتے رہے۔وہ فرانس� ہالینڈ � کینیڈا اور دیگر مغربی ممالک کی آنکھوں کا تارا رہی۔
اس پر یورپ میں کئی کتابیں لکھی گئیں اور بے تحاشہ پیسہ دیا گیا اور اسے اس پر
آمادہ رکھا گیا کہ وہ پاکستان میں رہ کر کام کرے جہاں اسے ہر طرح کا تعاون ومدد
حاصل رہے گی امریکہ میں مقیم ایک صحافی کا کہنا ہے کہ امریکہ میں انسانی حقوق کے
کارکنوں اور قانون سازوں میں مختاراں مائی بے حد مقبول ہیں۔
مختاراں مائی اور اسکے
ساتھ ہونے والی زیادتی کو امریکہ میں متعارف کروانے والوں میں امریکہ کے کچھ
پاکستانی نڑاد ڈاکٹر اور انسانی حقوق کے کارکن شامل ہیں جن میں ڈاکٹر آمنہ بٹر،
ڈاکٹر ظفراقبال اور اعجاز سید آگے آگے تھے۔ ان لوگوں نے�ایشین امریکنز اگسینسٹ
ابیوز آف ہیومن رائٹس� نام کی تنظیم قائم کی تھی جس کے پلیٹ فارم سے انہوں نے
مختاراں مائی کو امریکہ آنے کی دعوت دی تھی۔ �نیویارک ٹائمز� کے معروف کالم نگار
نکولس کرسٹوف تھے جنہوں نے نہ صرف مختاراں مائی کا کیس اپنے اخبار کے ذریعے دنیا
بھر میں نیویارک ٹائمز کے پڑھنے والوں کے سامنے بیان کیا بلکہ نیویارک ٹائمز کے
لاتعداد پڑھنے والوں نے مختاراں مائی کی حمایت کے ساتھ ساتھ عورتوں کے حقوق کے لیے
پر عزم جدوجہد کے لیے رقوم بھی بھیجی تھیں۔ نکولس کرسٹوف نے مختار مائی کے گاوں کا
دورہ بھی کیا تھا اور پہلی بار انکے گاوں میں مختار مائی کا انٹرویو بھی دیا تھا۔
مختاراں مائی کے امریکی دوست اور نکلوس کرسٹوف جیسے صحافیوں نے بھی خوب کام دکھایا۔
اسے مغرب دنیا نے بے شمار ایوارڈ بھی دیئے۔
فرزانہ باری سمیت کئی این جی اوز میاں غفار کے پیچھے پڑ گئیں
مختاراں مائی مقدمہ کا پول کھولنے پر فرزانہ باری پاکستان دشمن این جی اوز صحافی
میاں غفار کے پیچھے پڑ گئیں۔ فرزانہ باری کافی عرصہ سے میاں غفار کا تعاقب کر رہی
تھی اور اب دنیا ٹی وی پر پروگرام نشر ہونے کے بعد اس نے میاں غفار کے خلاف باقاعدہ
کارروائی کا اعلان کیا ہے۔
مختاراں مائی فیصلہ، محب وطن حلقے اب اپنا کردار ادا کریں، حافظ مسعود
مختاراں مائی مقدمہ کا سپریم کورٹ سے اور ساری داستان جھوٹی ثابت ہونے پر ردعمل کا
اظہار کرتے ہوئے ہیومن رائٹس فار جسٹس اینڈ پیس کے سربراہ حافظ محمد محمد مسعود نے
کہا کہ اب ثابت ہو گیا ہے کہ یہ ہمارا واقعہ مکمل جھوٹا تھا اسے غیر ملکی پاکستان
دشمن تنظیموں نے اچھالا اور پاکستان کو بدنام کرنے کے لئے استعمال کیا۔ ان لوگوں نے
ہی مختاراں مائی کو ساری دنیا میں پذیرائی دی ہر جگہ اسے خوش آمدید کہا اور بے
تحاشہ پیسہ دیا جس کے بعد اب مظفر گڑھ غیر ملکی این جی اوز کا گڑھ بن گیا ہے۔ سوال
یہ پیدا ہوتا ہے کہ اس واقعہ سے پہلے یہاں ایک بھی این جی اوز نہیں تھیں اور اب
سینکڑوں متحرک ہیں۔ یہ سب لوگ یہاں کیا کر رہے ہیں۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ اب محب وطن
حلقوں، جماعتوں اور عوام کو آگے آنا ہو گا مظلوم خاندانوں کی مدد کرنا ہو گی۔ انہوں
نے کہا کہ حکومت کا بھی پہلا فرض بنتا ہے کہ وہ مختاراں مائی کیس کے ذریعے پاکستان
کو بدنام کرنے والے تمام لوگوں اور این جی اوز کے خلاف سخت کارروائی کرے اور اس
مقدمے کے حوالے سے اصل حقیقت زیادہ سے زیادہ بہتر طور پر ساری دنیا کے سامنے لائی
جائے۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ عدلیہ کے ذریعے بھی مظلوم خاندانوں کی مدد کرنی چاہئے اور
پاکستان کے وقار کا دفاع کرنا چاہئے۔
مستوئی خاندان کے بچے مختاراں کے سکول نہیں جا سکتے
مختاراں مائی نے ملک اور بیرون ملک سے ملنے والے اربوں کے فنڈز کو حلال کرنے کیلئے
کئی ادارے کھول رکھے ہیں جن میں 2 سکول بھی ہیں، ان سکولوں میں دور دراز سے تو بچے
آ کر پڑھتے ہیں لیکن بدقسمت خاندان مستوئی کے بچے یہاں نہیں پڑھ سکتے کیونکہ وہ
سارے ہی مجرم ہیں اور عتاب کا شکار ہیں ان میں سے کسی کو یہاں داخلہ نہیں ملتا۔
سرخ مرچ بھگو کر کھانا کھاتے خاندان
مختاراں مائی کیس میں مرکزی خاندان عبدالخالق کا ہے جو مختاراں کے گاﺅں میروالا کے
قریب ترین بستی ہے پاک میڈیا اپ ڈیٹس ڈاٹ کام کی ٹیم جب ان کے گھر پہنچی تو نصف
درجن بچے اور دیگر خاتون پھٹی ٹوٹی چارپائی پر بیٹھ کر کھانا کھا رہے تھے۔ جب ان کا
کھانا دیکھا گیا تو پتہ چلا کہ سبھی لوگ ایک باﺅل میں سرخ مرچیں بھگو اور کوٹ کر
روٹی کے ساتھ کھا رہے ہیں۔
میروالا میں مختار مائی کیس میں عتاب کا مرکزی شکار بننے والا عبدالخالق کا گھرانہ
ہے ان کے گھر میں آج بھی بجلی نہیں۔ ان کی وجہ سے اس کے قریب واقع مزید 2گھروں کو
بجلی نہیں مل سکی۔ کنکشن بارے درخواست مختاراں مائی کے کہنے پر درخواست مسترد کر دی
جاتی ہے یہ خاندان اس قدر غریب ہے کہ ان کے پاس موبائل فون تک رکھنے کی سکت نہیں ان
میں سے کسی کے پاس موبائل فون نہیں ہے۔
پاک میڈیا اپ ڈیٹس ڈاٹ کام کی ٹیم جب مختاراں مائی کیس کی حقیقت جاننے مستوئی
خاندان کے گھروں میں پہنچی تو تقریباً سبھی گرفتار شدگان کے ورثاءٹیم کو دیکھ کر
حالات بتاتے ہوئے روتے دھوتے اور آنسو بہاتے رہے خاص طور پر عبدالخالق کی ماں کے
آنسو تھمنے کا نام نہ لیتے تھے۔
مختاراں مائی کے علاقہ میر والا مظفر گڑھ کا منظر عجیب ہے جہاں سے مختاراں مائی کا
کمپلیکس شروع ہو تاہے وہاں سے آگے دولت کی ریل پیل، اعلیٰ تعمیرات اور جدید ترین
گاڑیاں ہیں تو دوسری طرف مستوئی خاندان کے مٹی کے بوسیدہ گھروندے ہیں جہاں ہر طرف
گندگی میں لتھڑے، پھٹے پرانے کپڑے پہنے، ننگے پاﺅں چلتے پھرتے معصوم بچے دکھائی
دیتے ہیں۔
مختاراں مائی مقدمہ کا فیصلہ، پاکستان دشمنوں کیخلاف سخت کارروائی کا تقاضا کرتا
ہے
بالآخر21اپریل کو سپریم کورٹ آف پاکستان نے ملک کی تاریخ میں عالمی سطح پر سب سے
زیادہ شہرت حاصل کرنے اور پاکستان کی دنیا بھر میں سب سے زیادہ بدنامی کا باعث بننے
والے مقدمہ کا فیصلہ سنا دیا، جس میں 2005ءکے ہائیکورٹ کے اس فیصلے کو برقرار رکھا
گیا ہے جس میں ایک کے سوا تمام ملزمان کو باعزت رہا کرنے کا حکم دیا گیا ہے کیونکہ
مختاراں مائی اور اس کے ملک کے نامور ترین وکلاءکے کئی پینل بھی وہ الزام ثابت نہیں
کر سکے جو ملزمان پر لگایا گیا تھا۔ وہ 22جون 2002ءکی رات تھی جب مختاراں مائی کے
بقول اسے اجتماعی زیادتی کا نشانہ بنایا گیا تھا لیکن حیران کن طور پر وہ 29جون کو
تھانے پہنچی اور پھر 30جون کو اس کا میڈیکل ٹیسٹ ہوا۔ طبی ماہرین کے مطابق اتنے دن
گزرنے کے بعد میڈیکل رپورٹ درست آ ہی نہیں سکتی تھی، لیکن رپورٹ پھر بھی � مطلوبہ�
حساب سے آ گئی لیکن اس میں یہ �سقم� رہ گیا کہ اس میں صرف ایک شخص کی زیادتی پکڑی
گئی بلکہ مختاراں کا دعویٰ چار کا تھا۔ مقدمہ شروع ہوا، انسداد دہشت گردی کی عدالت
نے وہ آٹھ افراد جو مکمل بے گناہ تھے اور ان کا نام ایف آئی آر تک میں نہیں تھا کو
رہا کرنے کا حکم دیا لیکن وہ رہا نہ ہو سکے۔ مقدمہ آگے بڑھتا گیا اور ساری دنیا میں
خصوصاً پاکستان دشمنوں میں مختارا ں مائی کو خوب پذیرائی ملتی رہی۔ مجبوراً پاکستان
نے 2اگست کو فاطمہ جناح گولڈ میڈل دیا اور 5لاکھ روپے کا تعاون پیش کیا۔ 2نومبر کو
امریکی گلیمر میگزین نے مختاراں کو �سال کی خاتون� کا اعزاز دیا۔ 12جنوری 2006ءکو
فرانس میں اس کے متعلق کتاب شائع ہوئی جس کی بے تحاشا تشہیر کی گئی اور کروڑوں ڈالر
کمائے گئے۔ اس کا ترجمہ جرمن زبان میں بھی ہوا۔ 16جنوری 2006ءکو مختاراں پیرس پہنچ
گئی جہاں اس کا استقبال فرانس کے وزیر خارجہ فلپ دوستے بلینزی نے کیا۔ 2مئی 2006ءکو
مختاراں نے اقوام متحدہ کے ہیڈ کوارٹرز نیویارک میں تقریر کی۔ اگلے رورز اس کا
استقبال اقوام متحدہ کے انڈر سیکرٹری جنرل شاشی تھارو نے کیا اور اس کی خوب تعریف
کی۔ 31اکتوبر 2006ءکو امریکہ میں اس سے متعلق ایک اور کتاب شائع ہوئی۔ مارچ
2007ءمیں کونسل آف یورپ سے اس نے 2006ءکا نارتھ ساﺅتھ پرائز�جیتا�۔
اکتوبر 2010ءمیں کینیڈا کی ایک یونیورسٹی نے اسے ڈاکٹریٹ کی اعزازی ڈگری دیدی۔ اس
سے قبل کینیڈا نے اسے شہریت دینے کا بھی اعلان کیا تھا۔ اسے مغربی دنیا کے میڈیا نے
دن رات اچھالا، اس دوران مظفر گڑھ پر این جی اوز کی یلغار رہی اور اب یہاں 200سے
زائد این جی اوز مصروف عمل ہیں۔ اس ساری داستان کو بیان کرنے کا مقصد یہ ہے کہ
بتایا جائے کہ مختاراں کو آگے لانے والے کون تھے؟ ان سب کے مقاصد کیا تھے؟ ان لوگوں
نے پاکستان میں بھی نام نہاد روشن خیال لوگوں کو ساتھ ملایا اور خوب طوفان بدتمیزی
مچایا۔ یہ لوگ کل تک کنگلے تھے آج کروڑوں میں کھیلتے ہیں۔ فرزانہ باری کل تک کچھ نہ
تھی آج کروڑوں کے گھر کی مالک اور لیڈر ہے۔ یہی حال ان دوسرے لوگوں کا ہے، ان لوگوں
نے پاکستان کی عزت و وقار سے خوب کھیل کھیلا اور دشمنوں کو خوب خوش کیا، اب یہ لوگ
ایک بار پھر میدان میں ہیں اور عدلیہ کے خلاف مظاہرے کر رہے ہیں اور چاہتے ہیں کہ
دباﺅ ڈلوا کر اپنی مرضی کا فیصلہ کروا لیں، اس سنگین صورتحال میں ہم پاکستان سے
محبت کرنے اور پاکستان کو اپنی منزل مراد قرار دینے والے حلقوں سے کہنا چاہتے ہیں
کہ وہ اب آگے آئیں اور میدان خالی نہ چھوڑیں۔ ایسی صورتحال میں جب یہ ثابت ہو چکا
ہے کہ یہ سارا واقعہ جھوٹ تھا اور پاکستان کو بدنام کرنے کی بہت بڑی سازش تھی تو اب
محب وطن حلقوں کے پیچھے رہ جانے کا کیا سوال ہے۔ اب پاکستان، پاکستانی عدلیہ اور
مختاراں کے ظلم و دہشت گردی کا شکار ہونے والے غریب اور مظلوم مستوئی خاندان کی عزت
و وقار کو بحال کرنے کا وقت اور موقع ہے۔ اس موقع کو کسی طور پر ضائع نہیں کرنا
چاہئے۔ پاکستان کے ہر شہری کے لئے ضروری ہے کہ وہ اس سلسلے میں جہاں جہاں جو جو
کردار ادا کر سکتا ہے وہ لازماً ادا کرے۔ جو میڈیا کے ذریعے اس جھوٹ کو دنیا میں
نمایاں کروا سکتا ہے وہ اپنا کردار ادا کرے جو عدلیہ یا انتظامیہ کے ذریعے یا عوامی
حلقوں کے ذریعے یہ کام کر سکتا ہے وہ اپنا کام کرے۔ اگر چند درجن نام نہاد روشن
خیال این جی اوز کے نمائندے پاکستان کو بدنام کرنے اور کفار کی خوشنودی و رضا اور
بھاری فنڈ حاصل کرنے کیلئے میدان میں آ سکتے ہیں تو پاکستان اور اسلام سے محبت کرنے
والے میدان سے کیوں دور رہیں۔ اب ہر شہری کو اپنے اپنے حصے کا کردار ادا کرنا ہو گا
تاکہ ایسے ناسور اور نامراد لوگ آئندہ کبھی ایسی ناپاک سازش میں کامیاب نہ ہو سکیں
اور تاکہ پاکستان محفوظ و مامون رہے اور اس کے دشمن ذلیل و خوار رہیں

Sorry Mr Anwer, Would you please read the decision. No rape occurs. Marriage
took place there and Nikah Khawan was Molvi Abdul Razzaq. Court accepted this
marriage but consider it a bad intention of Abdul Khaliq because he betrayed
from the agreement and made the marriage of her sister salma with khalil Mastoi
on Thursday,27 June 2002. According to agreement the marriage of Salma was
scheduled to be done on Friday 28 june 2002.

The dispute is that some of the earlier convicts may not have actually committed
the act. But at least one person did rape her.
So, being raped by one person is not a rape? Mukhtaraan Mail is still a victim,
right?
And how her decision to go public with her plight and use whatever means she
could to seek justice defames Islam?
Can we, for once, stop linking Islam to women? Why is that every time a woman
moves, moans or sighs, it endangers Islam?
And why are men free to boast about their victims – they be women or young boys – as war trophies? Why their acts are not a threat to Islam?

or just go through the statements of Mukhtar mai before the magistrate under
section 164.

Mukhtaran Mai: the other side of the story

As the author of a 2006 book on the Mukhtaran Mai case and a former
Islamabad-based Western female news correspondent, I must raise a voice of
dissent amidst the shrill reaction to the Supreme Court�s acquittal of 13 of 14
men accused in Mukhtaran Mai�s case.
In 2005-2006, after many months painstakingly poring through every police
statement, medical record, witness testimony, and cross-examination transcript
in this case, coupled with multiple visits to Mirwala, Jatoi and Dera Ghazi Khan
for extensive interviews with members of both sides of this case, I reached the
same conclusion as the Supreme Court has in 2011. The Lahore High Court reached
the same conclusion in 2005. Indeed, I would challenge anyone who has the
opportunity to pore through all such records and interview members and
associates of all sides in this case to come up with any conclusion other than
that 13 of the 14 accused are innocent.
May I stress that fundamental to that conclusion (shared by myself, the Supreme
Court and the Lahore High Court) is that Ms Mai is indeed a victim of a heinous
crime. The question is: of what? The Supreme Court and Lahore High Court find
that Ms Mai is a victim of rape, hence their maintenance of Abdul Khaliq�s
conviction for rape.
It is my belief that Ms Mai is a victim of two heinous crimes here. One is
sexual assault: the kind of sexual assault experienced by women forced to marry
against their will, and by women handed over by their men folk as compensatory
chattel to settle a feud.
Which leads me to what I believe is the paramount crime here: Vani. Under
current laws, Ms Mai�s men folk would be convicted for handing her over to the
Mastoi family to atone for her teenage brother�s alleged misbehaviour with a
teenage Mastoi girl. The tradition of handing women over to atone for their male
relatives� wrongdoing, known also as Swara, was outlawed by the Pakistan
government in January 2005.
The police and court records shows that both the prosecution and the Mastoi
family agree that it was Ms Mai�s men folk who presented her to the Mastoi
family after many hours negotiating, via a local cleric, to resolve a feud. The
feud had erupted earlier that day when Mukhtaran�s brother Shakoor was seen with
the Mastoi girl Salma in the sugarcane field between the two families� homes.
The prosecution�s version of what happened next is well-known. There is also a
little-credited defence version; the other side of the story. For what it�s
worth, the defence version fits the pattern of many a feud and its resolution in
rural Punjab and Sindh: to settle the feud, the perpetrator�s family hands over
a female to the victim�s family to be married off to one of their men.
I have met the women of the Mastoi family and heard their vivid accounts of what
happened that night. They showed me the shoddy room in their home where, they
say, they saw Abdul Khaliq bring Mukhtaran Mai to spend the night with him after
a �sharai nikah�, an on-the-spot marriage without a certificate. For what it�s
worth, they recall Ms Mai being thrown out one or more days later and sent back
to her family, in a state of disgrace.
What happened to Ms Mai was outrageous, unsolicited, and must be punished. But
the evidence, cross-referenced with my own protracted field research and
interviews, suggests that what happened is considerably different from what is
alleged by the prosecution.
I would beseech anyone who is concerned with justice and human rights to examine
this case in real detail, retrace its genesis and comb through the records, and
ask themselves whether a dangerous miscarriage of justice lies beneath the
famous Mukhtaran Mai story.
I urge the detractors of the Supreme Court�s brave decision to objectively
examine whether the 13 acquitted men, who have each spent between six and nine
years in jail despite earlier acquittals, have been wrongly accused and
imprisoned.
Perhaps the most obvious wrongful imprisonment is of the eight men accused of
being part of an alleged panchayat. These men, who lived 3.5 hours travel from
Ms Mai�s village on the other side of the Indus, were acquitted in the original
2002 trial for want of evidence. It is worth reading what the original trial
judge had to say about how those men came to be arrested and why he released
them without charge. This is the same judge who convicted four others of
gang-rape and two of aiding and abetment. Astonishingly, these eight acquitted
men were re-arrested two and a half years later in reaction to the storms of
outrage that followed the Lahore High Court�s 2005 acquittal of five out of six
convicted men. They have been in jail for the six years since 2005, without
charge. Where are the human rights advocates standing up for them?
Apart from a wealth of inconsistencies in statements to police and witness
testimonies, the paucity of evidence affects many celebrated aspects of the
prosecution story. The allegation that Shakoor was molested by three Mastoi
males is pure fabrication and easily revealed as such on any study of the case.
The claim of Ms Mai being paraded naked before hordes of people was thrown out
in the original 2002 trial, yet nevertheless has embedded itself in many re-tellings
by media and rights groups. The presentation of the Mastoi tribe as wealthier
and more powerful than Ms Mai�s clan was discounted in the original 2002 trial,
when police admitted under cross-examination that Ms Mai�s family owned more
land and had more powerful connections than the Mastoi family, well before this
story began.
It is also my belief that Ms Mai is a victim of characters around her who have
used her, her family, the local police and courts for their own purposes. Talk
to any lawyer in southern Punjab and they will tell you how often false cases
are filed between enemies. It�s my belief that Ms Mai was shamefully taken
advantage of and had little control over events once the charges, filed not by
her or her family but by two unrelated men, went public.
The charge of gang-rape was brought to the police by the cleric Abdul Razzaq and
a local journalist-cum-rights monitor who had heard rumours after Razzaq made
claims in a Friday sermon. Ms Mai was not involved in the lodging of charges.
Some hours later, she was hauled into the police station unceremoniously in the
back of a police truck. There she found a statement already written by the
cleric in her name. She was told to attest it with a thumbprint. As is
well-known, at that time she could neither read the statement, nor write her
name. How was she to know what she was attesting with her thumb?
The next day the charge was in a local newspaper, the following day in national
and international press, and just three days later Ms Mai had a cheque for
500,000 rupees in her hand from President Pervez Musharraf. No investigation had
taken place, and Ms Mai was already both an international heroine and wealthier
than any illiterate villager from a wretched Indus backwater could have ever
dreamed.

genuinely raped women the himmat to report the crime then , I am all for MM's
small lie . This is a woman who still lives in one room off her school which she
set up wtih the money she received - She has not moved to Karachi or Lahore and
started living in Defence or Gulberg.

brother is a symbol of terror there. Mastoi can not use the road in front of
mai,s home. Mastoi children can not read in the school of Mai. Three rape
incident were made by Mai,s brother Hazoor Buksh but no FIR. Two cases of the
theft of electricity but no action took place.

that's why i say we, the so-called liberals and religious people, have no nerve to listen to other's point of view. we think whatever we say is Nauzbillah Wahi, and must be accepted blindly by others.
I once again repeat that instead of "exposing" each others' dignity, committment and patriotism here, pls pls pls pls, accept the court's judgment and if not then there is a way to go in review. there is no other way to resolve this issue.

Mian sahib are you saying that Mukhtaran mai was not raped at all. For then SCP
has made a big blunder, as it has convicted one to life imprisonment on the
count of rape. Now the question is that was she raped once, twice, thrice or
four times or not at all. To most normal people, being raped once is
nightmarishly enough. Please for goodness sake do not make this matter even more
controversial then it has already become.

Asma Jahangir has not spoken against the verdict. So has done Justice
(retired) Tariq Mahmood, Aitzaz Ahsan, Ali Ahmed Kurd and all
outstanding lawyers. No one can raise fingers on the competence and
integrity high and supreme courts.
Moral of the story is:
Civil society, suo-motu driven judges, media and rights campaigners
cannot prove a false accuser a ganagrape victim.
Mukhtaran Mai has earned millions, fame, connections in the world and
a powerful husband while her so-called tormentors have suffered nine
years in jail.
Now, the matter should be closed.
