According to constitution of PFUJ and IFJ ( National Press Club,
Karachi Press Club, Lahore Press Club) any propritor or person with
powers of Hire and fire, have not right of membership. but only can
be associate member.
It is very Strange that these emplyers have highjacked the both
organizations and blackmailing and exploiting the employees of thier
organizations. they are also not allowing the reporters of other
newspapers to join and get membership of AUJ and Press Club.
Some of Young Journalists along with senior Journalists have decided
to end this discrimination. They have failled to convince these Elite
Club to work according to Rules and constitution. Now they have
started strugle in Court of Law.

According to a media Policy formulated by information Department KPK
and presidents of Press clubs of KPK, " Press Club membership Quota
will be on this formulla, 5 members from each newspaper published
from the local station, 3 members each from regional newspapers, 2
each from National Dailies, 2 from TV chanels.
Monoplistic policies of owners of newspapers have exploitted the
emplyees rights and they are not implementing this formula of
membership in Press Club. there are only 50 members enjoying the
government donations and other funds. Hunderds of reporters and other
media persons are unable to get membership of Press club.
A new Mafia comprising of Owners, Managers, Newspaper Agency Holder,
Office Holder of Press Club and AUJ have got control of resources.
these are only half dozen poeple but enjoying the Full Cake.
Same person is Editor, Egency Holder, Office bearer of Press Club and
AUJ
or same person Editor, Manager of News paper, reporter of TV chanell
and Office bearer of Press Club.

The constitution of Pakistan Federal Union of Journalist and all big
Press Clubs of the country is very clear about the membership of
journalists.
No owner, publisher, chief editor, resident editor, chief executive or
official of managerial side of any newspaper enjoying hire and fire
authority could become member of any Journalist Union and Press Clubs.
However, the working editors’ including resident editors who have no
hire and fire powers could be made full member with having voting
right.
Owners and chief editors could be given membership as associate member
having no voting right.
The situation in Abbottabad is quit serious. Abbottabad Union of
Journalist and Press Club violated the constitution of PFJU in making
owners, publisher and chief editors’ members of the union and press
club and electing them office bearers.
It was responsibility of the Pakistan Federal Union of Journalist to
take notice of this serious violation of the constitution and send a
probe team to verify membership of the AUJ.
