Creating Internal links in PDFs

Internal links seem to work fine in ePubs, but not in PDFs. I stumbled across this 'bug report' that appears to have been written by Hugh but was wondering if any workaround exists?

Just did a little more testing - it looks like if you create a link using the 'link to existing content' search functionality, the book URL is stripped when you export an ePub but not with a PDF
If you use the method where you strip out the book URL, it works fine on prince PDFs. Doesn't work on mPDF but I'm aware that's still a beta
