Update April 17th, 2020: Thanks to Patrick Wardle who helped me figure out that if you unsign the latest version of Zoom on MacOS, it allows these 3rd party libraries to load. I have confirmed Wirecast virtual camera and Blackmagic devices show up after unsigning Zoom.app on the current latest which is 4.6.11 Steps below.

Same problem just started 2 weeks ago. The ManyCam virtual camera does NOT show up any place. Webex, Zoom, any. This is a real problem as I use video conferencing for all meetings now. Many thanks.

I have installed the ManyCam app on my mobile, it connects and displays in the ManyCam desktop app fine. (although my face is blue - wierd)
All I am trying to do is use my Mobile as a second webcam for my Macbook. (later maybe even an ip camera)

I've been looking into creating my own video capture and streaming software (I'm just looking to challenge myself, so this isn't a crucial project) and have found all the information that I need other than how to stream the video as a virtual webcam.

For example, Manycam will take several different inputs (I have this covered), and when you go into a program, such as Skype, it is listed as a webcam source. When you select it as a webcam source, then whatever you have set the Manycam software to stream will be shown.

To cut long story short, the absolute majority of existing apps use DirectShow, including Skype. In DirectShow you can create a software user mode video source and implement virtual video device to custom stream video, duplicating feeds or synthesizing whatsoever. See the following topic with links into others questions discussing exactly this topic, ans also pointing to sample projects: Virtual webcam input as byte stream.

Problem 2: I have many can installed and it gets detected by all applications and works great. The feed that gets detected is called ManyCam virtual webcam. No problems there. There is an additional webcam input detected called ManyCam video source. If I select this input the program crashes immediately. Uninstalling ManyCam does not get rid of ManyCam video source input. How do I remove this input so it will no longer be detected?

Problem 3: I recently decided to try out the snap camera virtual cam. It works great and I can use all the filters. Lovely. When I try to use it in zoom out discord or anything it does not show up as an available input. I've tried restarting the computer, reinstalling, and installing an old version. What am I doing wrong here?

Edit 8-24-2020: The support folks at ManyCam report that, although the virtual webcam is not picked up in GTM preview, if the user joins the meeting anyway, toggling the camera off and on (using the GTM control) once in the meeting allows the system to recognize the virtual webcam.

I'm new to GoToMeeting (at least, I haven't used it in enough years that it seems totally new) and I'm experiencing really annoying difficulty using the product with a ManyCam virtual webcam. I'm currently working on a Windows 10 Pro desktop system.

ManyCam is one of the most popular virtual cameras and live video software that enables users to use their webcam with various video conferencing apps and video streaming apps simultaneously for Windows and Mac.

The first ManyCam alternative is FineShare FineCam. The software is a virtual camera powered by AI that works with a variety of platforms including Zoom, Twitch, OBS, Adobe Premiere Pro, and much more. It runs on Windows 8/10/11, macOS 11 and above, Android, and iOS.

In addition, it enables you to snapshot and record your video, choose filters and effects, add brand logos, and remove and blur the background. You can set PowerPoint slides, a video, a web page, or your favorite pictures as your virtual background for free.

Just like other webcam software, AlterCam can record video and photos, blur, and change the background. You can add effects or your logo to your video stream or add different webcam overlays. It uses GPU acceleration for less CPU usage.

It gives you total control over your webcam video setting from a variety of apps like Skype, Yahoo, iChat, and more. You can zoom your video, record videos in high quality, take photos and then share them on your social media platforms.

There is no real easy way to know what current application is using the webcam, but when most applications loose the webcam, they do not automatically reconnect. If I was you, I would go to Device manager and simply disable then enable the webcam which should release it from whatever program is grabbing it.

Next time you start your machine, hopefulyl there will be no problems and you can use any program with the webcam in which case, you can delete the entry that is disabled. If however there is a problem, reenable it, however you may be out of luck - in which case, please write in comments and I will try to help further.

For what it's worth, I had this problem with a Creative HD webcam on XP SP3, and in the end (after much trial and error), I managed to get rid of the problem by some combination of doing all the following, probably doing all of them would be a good starting point for XP users.

Never before have employees worked remotely on such a massive scale. When millions of companies went fully remote in a short period of time to slow the spread of the coronavirus, video conferencing became the logical solution for connecting the remote workforce and keeping teams productive from home. In a matter of weeks, video conferencing usage exploded, permeating nearly all aspects of professional and personal life. In addition to business-related meetings, remote teams around the globe are using video conferencing to host virtual happy hours, ice breaker activities, online games, wine tastings, birthday parties and other social activities.

All of these third-party virtual background and special effects tools work with the Lifesize desktop application. Read through the descriptions, decide which one you would like to try out to enhance your video conferencing experience and then follow the step-by-step instructions to get started (and use CX analytics to take you to the next level).

XSplit VCam is a webcam background removal software for Windows only. XSplit VCam supports JPEGs, GIFs, PNGs and even full web pages, giving you unlimited personalization options for background replacement. You can also apply a customizable blur effect to your actual background for ultimate privacy. XSplit VCam is a great option for Windows users looking for a simple video conferencing background replacement tool without all the filters, digital lenses and animated effects.

Adding third-party virtual backgrounds and animated effects to your Lifesize desktop app is simple and only takes a few minutes to set up. Here are step-by-step instructions for adding virtual backgrounds to your next Lifesize call. You will need to complete these four steps before the start of your call.

Control and customize your augmented video with the third-party virtual background app. After you have selected the perfect background or filter, make or join a Lifesize call and have fun! During the call, you can continue to change your virtual background and filters or turn off the augmented video by going to Lifesize settings and changing the camera source.

It can get repetitive to showcase the same backdrop in every conference call. Adding a fun virtual background or digital filter can really spice things up. These apps give you the freedom to customize your look since there are thousands of different backgrounds, filters, animations and lenses you can add to your video call. Get creative and share a laugh on your next team virtual happy hour by joining the meeting as someone [or something] else from your favorite spot in the world.

In 15 seconds or less, the ChromaCam application will open, and you'll be able to choose between the different virtual event backgrounds available. In the Accelevents Studio, your video feed will reflect the virtual background you've chosen in the ChromaCam application!

To use ManyCam, you must first download the application and install it. Open ManyCam and select your desired virtual background. Please note that you'll need a paid plan with ManyCam in order to use virtual backgrounds.

For those apps you can use, ManyCam allows you to alter the appearance of your webcam extensively. For instance, you can use more than one webcam with Skype or other voice-calling apps or stream a completely different video that appears instead of your webcam.

You can use presets for your fake video call. Open ManyCam, then under Presets, select Preset 1. Underneath the Presets panel are the video source options. Select the video source you want to use, such as a webcam, IP camera, YouTube video, web source URL, and so on.

You can make your video call once you configure the fake video source. But you must select the ManyCam webcam option in your video call app to display your fake video. The process is slightly different for each video calling app, but you'll find the ManyCam Virtual Webcam option in the camera or webcam options.

In the Skype desktop app, head to Settings > Audio & Video. In the Camera options, select the ManyCam Virtual Webcam. When you make your video call, the fake video in ManyCam will play instead of your regular webcam.

OBS (Open Broadcaster Software) is a popular cross-platform, open-source video streaming tool. You can use OBS to stream to multiple platforms simultaneously, record media, and much more. In this case, you can use OBS to stream a fake video in place of your webcam.

OBS-VirtualCam is an open-source plugin for OBS. The plugin creates a virtual webcam option in OBS. Once you install the plugin, you can output media to the virtual webcam, then select the virtual webcam in your video call options.

While the VirtualCam plugin once required you to download and install it manually, as of OBS version 26.0.0 (launched in August 2020), virtual webcam functionality is now built into OBS directly. You can still install the plugin if you want, but it is no longer the most efficient way.
