Hi and thanks for the reply - I have gone through the recovery process twice now, but did not start the second one until after the date and time had passed where I had expected a phone call/text message.
Hi HBPaul, I'm experiencing the same thing - requesting a password reset with no text or call after the 72 hour waiting period twice. I Googled this question and saw this message thread, so I'm now hopefully if I turn off my old phone and turn off the watch I may finally get something. After some time passed and possibly disconnecting your watch or turning it off, were you able to receive a text and/or call to reset the password?
That could be part of the problem. As the link provided previously says any devices signed in with the same Apple ID could cancel account recovery if they're used during the recovery time frame. To look into this further, your best bet is to contact us with this link: Get Support
The Keynote will be available to stream on apple.com, the Apple Developer app, the Apple TV app, and the Apple YouTube channel. On-demand playback will be available after the conclusion of the stream.
I have done this, and there is no place on that page, or after attempting to login, or after giving your phone number, or after entering the verification code, where you can "check the status of your request."
in the same boat. they were suppose to call today and I didn't get a call. And like you said there is no place to check the status of the recovery request. the information on the site is false and there appears to be no recourse.
I have repeatedly done all the above resetting and have successfully been able to log into my apple account across all devices however my iphone still will not allow me to download or upgrade apps. Same old message " you Apple ID has been disabled". Very frustrating!
If at any time you remember your password, or regain access to a trusted device and can sign in successfully, your account recovery process will end and you can continue using your Apple ID as before.
My iPhone 6 fell into water and died. Unfortunately, I had not backed up to iCloud so I lost everything. My Apple Watch that was synced to that phone appears to have 100 photos on it that I would like to recover so I have not yet synced to my new iPhone 7. I went to the Genius Bar and they said there was no way to do it, but I could try third-party data recovery. Any help? Or any recs for any third-party data recovery that connects right to Apple Watch? Everything I am seeing only connects to iphone.
Okay. Photos in the camera roll should be routinely imported to the computer, or stored in iCloud. One should also be creating regular backups of the device, but looking at your post, it seems that you had not created an iCloud backup. Keeping all of the data in a single location is dangerous, especially since there is no way to recover things from the watch. If you were syncing to the watch, it seems these would be photos that had been around for a bit, is that correct? Or were you just taking these photos and they were syncing to the watch as you go?
Was this the Camera Roll, or a folder that was synced from the computer? I've used photo syncing on my watch in the past, and I've always synced photos from my phone that were synced from the computer. Otherwise, I'm not aware of any 3rd party software that would connect to the watch to allow for restoring photos.
Yes, I've gotten that lecture several times now. I obviously effed up by not having a back-up but it seems like an absolutely ridiculous design that I can see 100 photos on my Apple Watch but cannot export them, save them, text/email them off the watch, nothing. It is hard to believe and accept that there are no workarounds.
First of all my Iphone 6 software was crashed and I had to restore it to the factory settings, then I used an old backup to restore my data but it was corrupt, then I used other one but it just restored apps and it was all 'waiting', this is not the problem yet.. I tried to sign in to my apple ID ( which I know its password ) and it asked me for a two factor authentication code that sent to my trusted phone number which I know but I lost the SIM card and can't return it because its already out of service, I followed the steps and did an account recovery, it said you have to wait 4 days to verify and send you instruction on how to recover it, I was dying until the 4 days are done, I checked and the I found the disaster !!! it automatically updated the waiting time up to 24 days !!! I was screaming, but I said I have to do a temporary solution and use a new apple ID until the old is recovered, I made a new apple ID and signed in to my phone, and directly tried to reinstall my apps but guess what ?? a message pop up to me which says ' sign in is required' to my old apple ID, and when I put the password it takes me to two factor authentication page again.
You could have signed into your Apple ID on a computer, and added a new Trusted Phone number to use. It could be a landline if you wanted. You could also have generated a verification code on your own phone:
A verification code is a temporary code sent to your trusted device or phone number when you sign in to a new device or browser with your Apple ID. You can also get a verification code from Settings on your trusted device.
You can use the new one, but you will have to purchase your content all over again. Purchases are permanently tied to the AppleID used when making the purchase, so your past purchases are permanently tied to your old AppleID.
I want to recover and existing app-specific password. ALL the questions like this in the forums are answered by, "this is how you create one." I can delete and create a new one, but I don't want to. Any thoughts?
You cannot recover one. If you forgot the password, you will have to revoke it, and create a new one. Follow the steps here: Using app-specific passwords - Apple Support, under Manage App Specific passwords.
Okay so here it goes, I restarted my iphone 6 the other day and it won't boot properly. (stucked in apple logo). I made a hard reset and followed the instructions on how to update using itunes. I was able to update it to ios10.3.3 and it worked perfectly.
My battery died and while I was charging it, the apple logo kept on blinking and kept on rebooting (dark screen) for like 4-5 seconds. I tried the same method again, making sure I click on UPDATE and not RESTORE.
It finished updating the ios again but to my horror, it restored to factory settings. I lost all 60gb worth of photos and videos all the memories I had for the last two years. I know it's stupid of me not to back it up in itunes or icloud.
How about those third party data recovery softwares? or any company that can recover the content? I checked my icloud and not a single photo were uploaded.. and why did this update ruined my phone?? It was working perfectly for the last 2 years.
It can't be recovered if you restore the device to factory settings. Storage on an iPhone is encrypted. When you restore it the encryption key is trashed and a new one is generated. Without the original key the contents of the phone's storage are irretrievable. It's true that the FBI was able to recover data from an iPhone 5, but it cost them over $900,000. And the method their contractor used would not work on a newer phone or newer version of iOS.
The update did not ruin your phone, at least not from your description. Something went wrong with your phone, maybe software, maybe hardware, maybe cosmic rays. It's hard to say what. But, from your description, it happened before you updated. My iPhone 6 once simply restarted itself while I was using it and, when it finally rebooted, it had wiped itself. I restored from the iCloud back up that had been automatically made the night before and went about my life. There is an old saying about data storage: It's not a question of if your hard drive/iPhone/USB stick will fail, it's a question of when.
Most of the recovery software I've seen for iPhones pulls data from the back up on your computer. Now that the phone has been restored, it's unlikely that there is anything recoverable on the phone itself. You could try a company like DriveSavers (they have a good reputation). They will need you to send them your phone. If they can extract any data, it's going to be costly, on the order of thousands of dollars.
For the future, turn on iCloud back up. If your phone is plugged in at night, connected to WiFi and the screen is locked, the phone will automatically back up overnight. I also have redundant systems for backing up photographs. I like Google photos. I also import them to my Mac by connecting the phone to my computer with a cable every couple of months.
