Interestingly, I am getting exactly the same error message on Windows 10 today, and a Google search on runtime error "crt not initialized" "dropboxupdate.exe" brought me to this page. Never encountered this error before.

This has been happening to me for several months. I tried to reinstall the dropbox app several times and didn't resolve the problem. I looked everywhere on google, but so far no answer. I doesn't happen all the time I turn on on the PC, but often enough to be really annoying.

Now that all is up and running from a less than perfect installation on Thew Nighthawk X6 R7900, I do have a question about an issue that keeps recurring. If I leave the PC for a while, I get the following runtime error in a dialogue box:

MS Visual C++ Run Time Library. Runtime error! Program C:\.....netgeargenie.exe. This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please cvontact the application's support team for more information.

I have this same issue, just got my Netgear Nighthawk R7000 yesterday and set it up last night and installed the Genie software on my Windows 10 laptop and the software runs for maybe 20 min or so then crashes with the same runtime error.

No change after uninstall and reinstall. For instance, I started Network Genie first thing this morning and now four hours later have the runtime message with the app cancelled. Malwarebytes did a scheduled scan earlier so not sure if these two programs conflicted.

Hi Dexter, uninstalled newest version and installed older version and then computer and netgenie for several hours. Malwarebytes did a scheduled scan while we were out and I came back home to the MS Visual C++ Runtime Error. Possibly a conflict with Malwarebytes or something Windows 10 V1607 does not like.

That is indeed possible. You can try and isolate it further by disabling Malwarebytes if that is an option. I have the previous version and latest version of the program running on two different Windows 10 computers with the latest updates (1607).

MiniTool OEM program enable partners like hardware / software vendors and relative technical service providers to embed MiniTool software with their own products to add value to their products or services and expand their market.

Microsoft Visual C++ runtime library error crops up randomly but luckily, we can solve it easily. The reasons might be uncomplete installation package, outdated graphics driver, compatibility mode and so on. To get Microsoft Visual C++ runtime library error fixes, you can follow the guidelines below.

Usually when there is a runtime error, there is also an error code. Could you provide me with that error code. Also, when does this error occur? Are you unzipping the installer, installer initializing, while the 'parts' are being installed?

thanks for replying, the error comes up when i tried to install multisim i click to autorun it starts setup and after few seconds it give following error "Runtime Error" im adding the screen shot of the error also it does not give any error code

My best guess as to the problem is that you have a corrupt download. I remember download another program (not NIs) that took me 5 times before it was right, so I'd like you to check the MD5 sum of the download.

Thanks for reply as you have suggested me to compare both the MD5 Check sum but both are same ie the download is not corrupted so there may be another problem with the installation im also attaching the MD5 checksum screen shot with this reply

i have tried the following u have suggested but windows event logger does not generate error log. i don't know what went wrong with the setup i have once again downloaded the software and try to installing it again. even in windows xp sp2 mode but again it failed with the same error please suggest me more on this

i have tried to contact ni support @ ni.com/ask but till now i havent received any help on that error? same installation package i have tried to install on windows xp it works fine but now i have windows 7 im unable to install please help

When i try to print certain vector works drawings a runtime error occurs. As soon as click either print or print preview the runtime error appears and closes the application. I have vector works 11.0.1 and i have reinstalled it twice and that didnt resolve my problem. Its getting quite frustrating now so i hope some one can help me????

The printer i want to print to is HP designjet 800 . My computer is also linked to hp Laserjet 5550n and hp laserjet 8150DN. I dont even get the choice of selecting a printer from the menu because the runtime error occurs as soon as i click on either print preview or print. It doesnt happen on the other machine on the network.??

I would delete all printers and set them back up, especially since it's only happening on this one computer. Make sure you are using the latest driver versions available from hp.com when reinstalling the printers.

We are using the latest driver (ver 6.11) downloaded from the HP website. The problem has occurred since the latest driver has been installed and the problem is replicated on all other workstations with XP sp2 and using this driver. Whilst we was using the older driver (ver 5.21) this error message did not occur. The driver was upgraded to fix another problem with drawings which were printing but several other layers would be missing.

Some of the PC's are already rolled back to ver 5.21 (obviously these still have the original problem of some layers missing from printouts) We are now unable to roll back the driver as it is no longer available from HP.

registry Edit

Press down Windows key and R key, type in: regedit and click OK. In the registry, go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > Microsoft > Windows > CurrentVersion > DriverSearching. Look on the right side, and you will see SearchOrderConfig key. Double click it and then switch Value data from 1 to 0. Click OK. Restart your PC.

I purchased Adobe Audition 3.0 a couple of months back for my Windows 7 laptop and overall I enjoy it. When it works, it works great. However, I have encountered a "Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime error" at least three time which prevents me from being able to continue with a session.

The latest occurence seems to have been triggered by my machine going into sleep mode. I have the laptop set to never go into sleep mode while open because if it does while I have a session up, the playback glitches when I come back to resume the session, BUT, a relative saw my open laptop and thought I accidentally left it open and closed it. Sure enough, the playback went wonky so I saved the session and closed it out. When I re-opened the session and pressed play in multi-track view I got the runtime error message and the program shut down. I can't continue using Audition if I can't fix this problem. Please help!

To answer your question, yes, it was hard to find. I purchased it from an individual seller on Amazon.com who had one copy. The only reason I wanted 3.0 and not one of the newer versions was because I was switching over from the older Cool Edit Pro program and was very familiar with it (the only reason I stopped using CEP was Windows 7 compatibility problems). I downloaded a trial of Audition 3.0 and saw that the interface was pretty much the same as CEP so I decided on Audition 3.

It won't help, otherwise I would have suggested it. The C++ library has to be in place correctly in your machine before the Audition run-time will execute properly - it interprets Audition's C++ code into something that your PC can run. If Audition doesn't think it's there, then it will reinstall the run-time version required upon installing - but if it finds it already, then apparently it won't - according to your experience - even if it's corrupted.

Fortunately you do have one other option - it's possible to remove the runtime quite easily, the same way that you uninstall Audition. If you go down the list somewhat to the Microsoft entries, you'll find at least one entry for it there, possibly more. Try uninstalling all of them, and then reinstalling Audition - it will replace what was previously there with a new, hopefully not corrupted, version.

Big thanks, SteveG. Uninstalling the runtime entries and reinstalling Audition seems to have fiixed the problem. Just curious, do you know why playback becomes scrambled when the machine goes into sleep mode? My Cool Edit program would do the same thing on my XP system. I have no problem setting my system not to go to sleep but I'm just wondering if there is a way around having to do that every time I want to use Audition.

Well, it happened again. Several hours into a new session and I got the C++ runtime library error, not triggered by hibernation this time. There are no runtime entries to delete under "Programs and Features", so I have no idea what to do now. I have uninstalled/reinstalled AA3 twice (along with the 3.0.1 patch) and the session still gives me the error and closes down.
