Hi Tianshu,

Please take note of the below message from SAO regarding the recent DNC and PDPA Act.

We will be appointing you as the data protection officer to monitor all aspects with regards to member data collection and protection. Do read through the slides in the link to have a better idea about the regulations so that our members' data are not misused in anyway.

Could you also disseminate these info to the project leaders? Ask them to take note of the regulations especially when they want to send any information through sms/mms/voice call/phone call/fax to external parties. There will be serious consequences if the act is violated. So if they are unsure about whether the information they send out violates the act, please ask them to check with us first.

Also, do ask the leaders to get their members to sign the below acknowledgement. After that you can collect the signed forms from them and keep it as a record. Remember to get the entire EXCO to sign the form as well.

If anyone is not comfortable with signing the form, please take note of their names too. We must then be very careful with the usage of their personal data (for e.g. not sending their data to external people, not sending them marketing messages etc)

Thank you for attending or nominating your members to attend the PDPA & DNC Briefing sessions conducted on 21 Jan and 4 March 2014. I trust that you have found the briefing useful in the running of your organisation. With the commencement of PDPA, pls note the following:

1. Each student organisation must appoint a Personal Data Officer (PDO). For small student organisations, this position can be double-up by your Hon Gen Sec.
