Hi Green Coordinators,
We seem to have had some problem with the transporter and they have assured us that the Banners/Posters & T Shirts, Balloons & Bags will reach you in a couple of days. If you do not receive them by Thursday latest – please email me or Paul Nyu.
Meanwhile, attached the Media Release in English, Mandarin & Bahasa Malaysia if you will like to engage the press on your own. This is mainly for the locations outside Klang Valley as the committee has already engaged all the relevant media.
Also attached is the Volunteer List that you will need to keep the attendance for the 27th May event. This is required for the Malaysia Book of records. All locations need to also furnish photographs and video clip of the event to the committee post event.
Great work guys..... let’s get as many Volunteers out there on 27th may 2012.
Where will you be on 27th May.?
Regards..../karthi
Hi All,
Some clubs have requested for the ICTR logo . Attached in PDF and AI. Both versions are in Hi Res and can be used for print purposes.

Hi Green Coordinators & All,
I have just received calls and emails from some of the clubs in the North confirming that they are now in receipt of the Bags, T Shirts, Balloons , Banners & Posters. Please ensure that the Banners & posters are displayed prominently.
Rest – please advise me & Paul Nyu accordingly.
Some Important Points to Note
1. The event is from 10am to 2pm ( minimum ) . Locations that want to extend may do so. At 11.00am sharp – all clubs must be distributing the bags ( this is required for our Malaysia Book of Records ).
2. Booth space has been allocated for each location to promote Rotary. Please ensure that the Rotary Booth is used for promotion of Rotary only.
3. Volunteers will need to be at the location by 9.00am ( Balloons need to be pumped, booth needs to be set up ) to ensure these logistical arrangements are done . T shirts need to be worn by all Volunteers.
4. You will need to submit the Attendance Form , Video Clip & Photographs after the event. Please ensure that the video & photo includes the distribution of bags at the checkout counter and the launch ( if any Kindly ensure that ALL bags are distributed and NOT KEPT for club usage. We need to distribute all the bags on the very same day to qualify for the Malaysia Book of Records.
5. You will need to appoint a Facebook Coordinator to log on to our http://www.facebook.com/RotaryIChooseToReuse to do mobile uploads on what’s happening at each location. Uploads need to be done on an hourly basis – photos and videos and short snippets.
6. Some of you may have made individual request to the Giant Location Managers for refreshments to all the Volunteers. If they do agree , great but please do not insist as they have already been a great partner in this campaign by sponsoring the T Shirts.
For any enquiries on Facebook / Viral campaign updates , your contact person is Rtn Samantha Samson – 012 502 1102 / sama...@cnssolution.net )
For any enquiries with regards to receipt of Banners / TShirts / Posters / Bags / Balloons & Sticks , your contact person is PP Paul Nyu – 012 213 0390 / pauln...@yahoo.com )
Where will you be on 27th May ?

Hi All,
PP Paul Nyu had earlier sent out 2pcs of XXX T Shirt to all locations. These are in white and should be allocated for the “BIG” Rotarians.
However, the sponsors Giant has send us an additional 50 over XXXL Tshirts. Due to time constrains, those requiring XXXL T shirts would need to contact PP Paul Nyu and collect from him directly. Paul is running around ensuring all the logistical arrangements are done ...so PLEASE......if you do require the XXXL T shirts , call him and go pick it up from him rather than expect him to send it to you.
Thanks and regards.... WHERE WILL You BE ON 27th May ? /karthi

Yo All,
The last few days have seen much heighten activity in the Rotary Google mail and I Choose To Reuse Facebook page. Green Coordinators are all in full swing getting your banners /poster displayed..checking stock.. working out logistics..distributing leaflets and the entire logistics arrangements. Green coordinators – You have done an excellent job...just 1 more day. We have had radio announcement on HITZ, Lite FM and MIX...the press articles in the Star, Sinar Harian, Sin Chew & Nanyang.
We seem to be set for the largest gathering over 4,000 Rotary Volunteers on a single day to distribute over 130,000 bags at 27 locations district wide. This is our time to go out there in full force to showcase Rotary . Let’s go out and have as much fun as possible...we have our partners in service - Interactors & Rotaractors, our friends, colleagues, family members all geared to support I Choose To Reuse.
Let’s paint the town GREEN.

Fellow Rotarians,
In the last 2 days, we have had media coverage in Kosmo, Utusan Malaysia, Sinar Harian, The Star, Nanyang, Sin Chew ,Berita Harian, HITZ FM, Lite FM and MIX FM. We have had much coverage especially in the regional publications. Check out our Facebook page for all these press clippings. Thank you - Green coordinators for such an excellent job.
This is truly what Rotary is all about. We finally managed to tell the general public our Rotary story. We had young and old Rotarians, Past Governors and District Leaders all playing a part in making I Choose to Reuse a success.
As PP Poh Huu rightfully said “I feel 10ft tall”. That’s the feeling most of us, if not all are feeling right now.
When we formulated the plan for I Choose To Reuse – the primary intention was community service, leverage on the public image of Rotary and most importantly involve as many Rotary Clubs , Rotarians , our partners in service – Rotaract & Interact, our family members, our colleagues and our friends. As of today, our Facebook reach to fans is 190,916 people. Isn’t that amazing ?
The whole project is costing us RM178,000 and I am sure all of you will agree that it was worth every penny spent. The District is paying 100K, RI PR Grant subsidy is 44K and five clubs donated 9K in total making our collection to 153K. Thank you RC Greater KL ( 5K) , RC Bukit Bintang (1K), RC Central Damansara (1K), RC USJ (1K) & RC Senawang (1K).
We expected 25K from TRF but we have just been told that there is a “glitch” in getting the funds. Hence, we are now currently short of 25K to cover cost for the project. The committee is hoping that we can appeal to the Rotarians in the District and the Rotary Clubs to help us cover this deficit. We hope that individuals and clubs will generously contribute towards covering this shortfall of RM25,000.
Clubs or individuals wishing to help us cover this cost can make their donations directly to the district . Account details are as follows :-
CIMB Bank
Account Name : Rotary International District 3300 (Malaysia) Berhad
Account No : 14160000780103
I do hope that Rotarians & Rotary Clubs will positively respond to our appeal.

Fellow Rotarians,
How true Arvind.
It warms me to advice all clubs that we have reached our target of RM25,700. Just a day before, we were concerned about how to request clubs to donate to help cover the deficit.
Now – I am writing to inform that we have reached our target and thank all clubs & individuals for their generous donations and hereby request clubs to stop making donations.
Please bank in your contribution to the District Account and send copy of the bank in slip to PP Siti & Dr Kirthi ( District Treasurer ):-

Fellow Rotarians,
The last one week was an exciting week. We started the week with delays on the Banners & Posters – many of the Green coordinators were going helter skelter in liaison with their respective Giant outlets. Some locations only managed to get their stock on Friday – just 2 days prior to the event. ...all in all it was a week of logistical “nightmare”. Paul Nyu and I have been getting calls till late at night asking about when the stock will reach their locations and true to form ....Paul pulled it through.
Appointing the Green Coordinators and liaising with the 27 locations was not an easy feat. Explaining what we need to each of the 27 coordinators and getting everyone on same plate .... that credit must to Siti who between here sojourns to Frankfurt and Cannes managed to pull it off brilliantly.
As we taper down the excitement, the final reach on our Facebook pages are quite amazing . Samantha has been spending months coaxing and cajoling Rotarians and friends to be part of this Viral campaign which started just 2 months ago. The numbers we reached is testament of her work.
There has been hundreds of pictures and video uploaded by various coordinators on to our Facebook. When you have the time , do peruse and watch what we all can do when we have the desire to do so.....
http://www.facebook.com/RotaryIChooseToReuse
http://www.facebook.com/rotaryichoose.toreuse.3
Just last weekend – 8,078 unique visitors to our Facebook page.
We had reached in total 205,786 friends of fans ( a surge of 65.76% increase from the week before )
None of these would have been possible if not for all of you who turned up at all the 27 locations to make this outing a exciting day for our District. Finally, the 24 hours it took to raise RM26,700 to cover the deficit. It took a PDG to start the ball rolling and that got individuals and clubs to respond without a bat of an eyelid.
We will finalize the accounts by next week and will have the final figures soonest.
On behalf of Governor Ravee & the members of the I CHOOSE TO REUSE team, I thank you for allowing us to share this experience with you.
Governor Ravee, Siti Subaidah, Samantha Samson, Paul Nyu, Dr CS Paul, DGN Dato Jimmy Lim & Karthi Palanisamy
