Dear Rotarians,
Rotary Club of Sri Petaling has embarked on a community project which is the first of its kind in Malaysia where students can learn Chinese Braille in their own vernacular language. Upon the success of this pilot project, we wish to launch it to other Blind Schools in Peninsular Malaysia and also in East Malaysia. As a matter of fact we have recently sent three Braille teachers where two of them are visually impaired from St. Nicholas Home for the Blind, Penang to Beijing, China for one month to learn the Chinese Braille. The first Chinese Braille class will be implemented from June 2012 in St. Nicholas Home. As such, Rotary Club of Sri Petaling needs financial aid to spearhead this project and also for its continuity to other blind schools too.
One of the ways which we hope to raise funds is a Charity Dinner with the Musical Troupe from Beijing, China The members from the Musical Troupe from Beijing are visually impaired and they have the distinction of not only showing their musical prowess in China but also other parts of the world. They have graciously consented to do their part for charity for us. Truly their efforts should be lauded and appreciated.
The Yayasan Nanyang Press has endorsed our project and all donations will be handled with care by the foundation. Attached is a donation form which we hope you can support and donate generously to the success of this project. We look forward to your participation in this worthwhile project.
