➡️K0068644 | Review & Compliance Archeologist (Historic Preservation Specialist II)

This position is responsible for timely reviews of projects in accordance with state and federal laws for the protection of historic properties; educates public and government officials about protective laws; reviews projects submitted by property owners, federal and state agencies and local governments through the Kansas Review & Compliance system and analyzes their potential to affect the state’s archeological resources; reviews and evaluates reports for conformance with the Kansas SHPO’s Guide to Archeological Survey, Assessment and Reports. Candidates must have a graduate degree in archeology, anthropology, or closely related field.

 

➡️K0108088 Historic Preservation Specialist II - National Register Reviewer

This position serves as the National Register program reviewer in the Cultural Resources Division of the Kansas Historical Society. Duties include working with a team under the direction of the National Register Coordinator to assist with nominating properties to the Register of Historic Kansas Places and National Register of Historic Places. The position will review incoming nominations and submissions and provide comments, help support the Historic Sites Board of Review meetings, and manage the records of the programs. 

 

➡️K0062935 Archeologist II - Contract Archeologist

This position is responsible for overseeing projects as part of the agency’s contract archeology program. This program contracts with KDOT to perform archeological reviews for upcoming highway projects. The person in this position will analyze the potential of these projects to affect the state’s archeological resources through background research, archeological survey, testing, and report writing to the standards set in the Kansas SHPO’s Guide to Archeological Survey, Assessment and Reports. Candidates must have a graduate degree in archeology, anthropology, or closely related field.
