The Cultural Resources Division at the Kansas Historical Society has two open positions. Come join us!

 

Historic Preservation Specialist II – Subgrants Coordinator   | State posting | Position description

Position administers and monitors awards through the state Heritage Trust Fund and other subgrant programs as may be required, to organizations and individuals for compliance with the funds’ objectives and with historic preservation guidelines. Develops and implements program procedures, criteria, and evaluation standards for the grant programs. Solicits applications, organizes publicity, and writes and revises all forms, instructions, and manuals. Advises and consults with entities applying for funds. Helps plan the state preservation conference in coordination with local host communities.

 

Public Service Executive I – Historic Sites Supervisor  State posting Position description

This position oversees the 16 state historic sites and requires knowledge of professional historic sites practices, procedures, and techniques, a knowledge of American and Kansas history, knowledge of sources, methods, and techniques used in historical interpretation, and knowledge of the principles and practices of management and supervision. Responsibilities include recruitment, training, and evaluation of local historic sites administrators and alternates, as well as travel each of the 16 sites regularly.
