Chinese white goods manufacturer) had developed a water less washing
machine to wash clothes with out detergent and is already marketing
this after its successful debut in Chine last year.
Detergents, which people use now for washing clothes, are having
chemicals obtained from petroleum products, surfactants etc and are
very bad for nature and pollutes the rivers, pools, tanks and sea
since all the waste water is normally fed into them. This results in
the death of the fish and other water borne animals and creatures
affecting the ecology.
Haier's technology uses a small current to pass through the water in
the washing machine to generate some chemical reaction where by acid
and alkaline atoms are generated which does the action of the
detergents. The electrolysis action by the passage of current in the
water cleans and bleaches the clothes and your washing is complete.
Of course the washing may not be as good as that one done with
detergent powder or cakes. So probably for very dirty and greasy dress
you may have to use detergents.
Just think about the usefulness of this machine and its advantage of
using in the nature preservation. The amount of water saved from
pollution is quite huge. From a very conservative calculation of the
water used by one household is about 200 liters and in a year by about
100,000 households of the same quantity it will come to a mind
boggling quantity of 7,300,000,000 liters of water. Suppose the number
of homes using this machine is more then you could imagine the
quantity of water saved and the life of mater borne animals /
creatures saved.
So there are improvements taking place which can smoothen the damage
done to the nature to a little extent.
