A very happy news was found in today's papers which have given through
one of a news items which stated that the forest department officials
have found tigers in Sathyamangalam forest range which does not come
under the Tiger reserve forest. They could count the pug marks of
seven tigers and could actually sight two tigers resting under a tree.
Really a great achievement for nature lovers as previously it was not
a place for tigers to roam about.

To be frank it was the area in which the forest brigand Veerappan was
roaming and killing elephants for their tusks and also for smuggling
Sandal wood. Nobody ventured into the forest as long as Veerappan was
alive and probably this could have given protection to the tigers as
no poachers could venture into the forest.

It may also be true that the tigers could have come from some other
range and settled here in Sathyamangalam. Anyway it is a good news for
all.
