An elephant, male, was sighted in the Periyanaiken palayam range, who
was suffering from some wounds and was ill and hardly could walk.
Since his movements were restricted he could not even eat and was
suffering from hunger. He had confrontation with the local villagers
since he intruded into their cultivated land and gardens. Probably
they must have injured him or he must have fought with another male or
fell down and got injured.

The elephant had been reported to the forest officials and they came
and saw the elephant and found that he has to be moved away since he
could be attacked by the villagers if he took to their fields.

So the forest officials brought two trained elephants and drove the
injured elephant into the forest where it was treated with anti-
biotic, B-complex, rice, jaggery ( made from crude sugar cane juice
boiled and rolled into balls) and medicines. Slowly the elephant has
improved and now is able to stand up and move around. Within another
one month he will be completely cured and will be let into the forest
again.

Let us appreciate the work done by the forest personnel and also the
vet do
