For those of you who remember Mac Mathis and the rest who can pray for their family:  Mac Mathis's mother, Mable Gresham Mathis, passed away the middle of May.  She was 90.

Survivors include her husband, Eugene Mathis, Gainesville, GA; son and daughter-in-law, the Rev. Mac and Nellie Mathis, Memphis, TN; daughter and son-in-law, Carlene and Tim Archer, Gainesville, GA;  grandchildren, John and Ame Archer, Cat Archer, Kelly Archer, Mark Mathis and Karen Mathis.

Note that Mac's given name is Malcolm but he goes by Mac.  He is listed in the obituary as a Reverend.
 
The obituary below for Mac's mother is from the newspaper in Monticello, GA, where until last year she and her husband Gene had lived.  Gene survives her; his address is 7625 Bent Tree Trail, Gainesville GA 30506-7038.
 
Mrs. Mable Gresham Mathis
 
Funeral services are scheduled for Monday May 21, 2012 at 11 a.m. in the Ward’s Funeral Home Chapel in Gainesville for Mrs. Mable Gresham Mathis, 90. The Rev. Dr. Robert Powers will officiate. Interment will be in Georgia National Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday, May 20, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Mathis died Thursday, May 17, 2012.

Mrs. Mathis was born in Columbia, S.C., to the late Harry McGinnis and Ethel Gresham McGinnis. She grew up in Atlanta from the age of 10 until 1986. She then moved to Monticello where she lived until 2011 before moving to Hall County. She was a member of Lake Claire Baptist Church in Atlanta and Smithboro Baptist Church in Monticello. She was a homemaker, a Sunday School teacher and was very active in church activities. She was a member of the Garden Club of Monticello. At Christmas time she was known as Mrs. Claus as she and her husband played Santa and Mrs. Claus.

Survivors include her husband Eugene Mathis, Gainesville; son and daughter-in-law, Rev. Mac and Nellie Mathis, Memphis, TN; daughter and son-in-law, Carlene and Tim Archer, Gainesville; grandchildren, John and Ame Archer, Cat Archer, Kelly Archer, Mark Mathis and Karen Mathis.

Flowers are accepted or donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association Georgia Chapter, 1925 Century Boulevard N.E. Suite 10, Atlanta, GA 30345-3315.

Online condolences may be made online at wardsfh.com. Ward’s Funeral Home, 758 Main Street S.W., Gainesville in charge of arrangements.
