A FEW PRESCOTT CHURCH REMINDERS FROM TOM WALSH - MONDAY, 1/27/14:
· One-week extension: Several have told me they wanted to add their personal comments/blessings/reflections to the “Blessings” document that we are distributing, a copy of which will be placed in our 50-year time capsule. I’ll re-do the document to add others’ comments, but I must have them all by this coming Friday night, Jan. 31, via email or regular mail (see my office address below). Right now we have submissions from about 35 households. Please remember to keep them fairly short.
The time capsule will also include our current membership roster; the list of those who signed in yesterday as being present for our last regular worship service, plus a list of those who are present and sign in next Sunday; a digitalized photo and video record of our worship yesterday and of next Sunday’s transition to Shady Grove; and the final edition of our church history, on which I am now working.
· Prescott’s Library Committee announces that free books from the church library are available in Fellowship Hall this week. Please take time to browse and take some home. Call the church office (327-8479) ahead to make sure the building is open.
· Remember to contact Laura Flippin by tomorrow (Tuesday, 1/28) if you plan to partake of the fried chicken lunch that our hospitable sisters and brothers at Shady Grove are preparing for us after worship next Sunday, Feb. 2. · Mary Field asked that I invite all Prescott family members to her 60th birthday get together at Nagasaki Inn, 3951 Summer Ave (just W of Graham), this Friday at 7:00 p.m. “No presents, just your presence!” She reminds us there’s a 2-for-1 coupon in Friday’s paper. · Next Sunday, Feb. 2, we’ll gather at Prescott at 9:45 a.m. for a brief time of music and prayer, and then head over to Shady Grove Presbyterian, Yates @ Shady Grove, for our first worship service in our new setting. We will leave from our parking lot at 10:00 a.m.. If you can’t be present before 10, you’d best drive directly to Shady Grove.
PLEASE NOTE: Sunday worship at Shady Grove starts at 10:30 a.m. If you tend to be late to our 10:45 service, you could miss most of theirs!
· If you can help with transportation of persons who need a ride to Shady Grove on Sundays, or if you need a ride there, please write your name on a list in the Prescott foyer.
· You have one week left to make paid reservations for our Adult (18+) Valentine Dinner on Sat., Feb. 15. Do not contact Mary Alice about this; she still has plenty to do. Instead, by next Sunday, Feb. 2, you must make your reservation and give your cash or check to Susan Baldwin, Mickey Eubanks, or Joyce Wood. This is a dress-up occasion with a full-course gourmet meal in a beautiful setting. $25 individuals/$45 couples.
· Deacons will meet one last time at 2:00 p.m. on Feb. 9 at the home of Annette Bickers, 4992 Minden. Deacons, call her at 683-4394 if you are unable to come.
