I doubt anyone needs
a reminder that the Beulah-Unitarian-Prescott Thanksgiving feast is in
Fellowship Hall tomorrow (Tues) night at 6:30 p.m. This is always one of
the most festive and best attended events of the year. Last year we
had 200+ in attendance. So you probably don't need more encouragement
to come. But I did want to suggest a couple
of things:
1. To
the extent you're able, bring lots of food --
specifically, vegetables, salads, or
desserts, more than will just feed yourself. We have
5 turkeys in the 20 lb and over weight class -- from 25 years' experience
we've learned that 100 pounds of turkey is about right -- and Special
Events volunteers are preparing the turkeys, gravy, dressing, cranberry
sauce, rolls, and salads. So we need those other
things.
2.
Please try to sit at a table with some Beulah or Unitarian sisters and
brothers. Unless you have a special reason to do so (e.g.,
family groupings), try not to sit at a table where you already know everybody
and see them often. We're all hosts. Be hospitable! Seek
out new friends!
Several Prescott
volunteers have been at work at the church all day today; more will come
tonight, and more during the day tomorrow -- cooking, arranging furniture,
decorating tables, etc. These volunteers will be fully spent by tomorrow
night and deserving of rest -- so if you haven't been part of the
preparation for the past two days and can volunteer to stay after the meal and
help clean up, that would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
Tom
