Prescott Church
friends:
In an effort to
clear the decks for our Christmas celebration and to focus on the reason for the
season, we're postponing some business-type meetings that had been set for
this month. So contrary to prior
announcements:
Neither the
Worship Committee nor the Church Council will
meet this coming Saturday, and there will be no congregational
meeting this coming Sunday evening.

Other things
haven't changed. For example:
The
choir will continue to practice for its 12/20 Christmas
Cantata (with rehearsals at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday the 13th and at 9:30 a.m.
on Saturday the 19th).
Students in Gr. 6-12
will have Youth Game Night at the church this Saturday the
12th.
We'll host
Saturday Supper to feed the hungry of our community
on Dec. 19.
The children and
youth will present their Christmas play in worship this Sunday,
the 13th, and the choir will perform Sunday the 20th.
Please invite friends and family for these special celebrations the next two
Sundays.
We'll celebrate
Christmas Eve Candlelight Communion on Thursday the 24th at
6:00 p.m.

CHURCH FAMILY SUPPORTS EACH OTHER
One great
benefit of belonging to a church family is the way we share our gifts
and celebrate each other's gifts and company.
Last week
our pastor and about a dozen other Prescott folks formed a fan club to go see
Colin Baker, 11-year-old son of Angela and Maxine and brother of Chloe, in a
midweek performance of Appling Middle School's fabulous production of the
musical Grease. Colin was amazing in the role of Eugene the
nerd. He just about stole the show, earning a huge ovation at the
end.
Last
night another sizable Prescott contingent went to support church
organist/pianist Jody Carroll McClendon and her River City Band at their
annual Christmas concert. A musician of protean abilities, Jody
plays the timpani (kettledrums) in the band. As always, the band gave a
bright and festive performance that included many Christmas favorites. As
they say, a good time was had by all.
Finally,
we have enjoyed seeing some special folks from out of town in our worship
services lately. For example, Sunday before last we welcomed
members of the Dyer family from Australia, long-time friends of our
church. This past Sunday we were delighted to see Rex and Nan Enoch,
long of Prescott/Heifer Int'l fame, who came over from Little Rock to worship
with us. For the remaining Sundays of December, we anticipate
seeing in our worship services some familiar loved ones from distant
places.
