Apparentlyeveryone says unlocks is not an issue anymore, but I still don't have access to locked stuff. Is it still mandatory to do all single player mission to get unlocks? Considering I have the steam version of BoS and I did not buy La5 and Me190 (and I don't want to).

I heard, not sure if still true that if you buy the game semi-legally of one of those discount game code sites that you can end up with the cheaper russian version of the game that is still locked, but brought from the official site or steam the game is unlocked. Not sure if that version still exists?

Just to be clear, what exactly can you not access? As you are asking about BoS being 'Unlocked' I assume you have bought Battle Of Stalingrad so specifically what part of Battle Of Stalingrad is it not letting you use? As an example, you should be able to fly the Lagg-3 and also choose any of the guns the Lagg-3 can use. On the Allied side you should be able to fly the Yak-1, IL2-42mod, PE2-s87 and any guns or bombs that could be fitted to those aircraft. If you have the Premium version of Stalingrad then you will also have the LA-5.

Sorry I was wrong. All options are available. The interface in which I can see the options I have unlocked and the options which I have not unlocked is still here, that's why I was confused. But actually everything is available.

The unlocks thing was killed off well over a year ago now. There are no unlocks for anyone. Some servers may restrict loadouts for gameplay or historical reasons but otherwise its all open and available all the time.

Guardian, I'm going to guess that either you have a problem with your account (the less likely option) or you're not doing something quite right. Can you post a screenshot and show us what you're seeing? That might cut through a lot of confusion on all of our parts.

The old IL-2 I used to play had a crap load of flyable planes. One of my most favorite things to do was toss in a few wings of ME-262s and fly against 4 wings of B17s. That looks like ot is no longer possible. Hell, I dont even see a flyable P 38 or P 47. I really adored taking the Yak-9K with its massive cannon up against ground targets and bombers.

The planes in this game are modeled to a much higher standard than anything ever was in 1946. There's not as many planes to fly but way more to chew on. Every single plane feels exactly the same in 1946 in my opinion. Full rpm, full throttle, don't pull too hard every plane stalls the same.

Agree, this game IS more detailed. The one thing about the old one was the flexible nature to make whatever you wanted, fly whatever you wanted. Hell, in the 1946 exp that was just a riot flying some of those. I used to love to take an ME163 Komet from take off, hit some bombers, and glide it in...

What have you purchased so far? Battle of Stalingrad standard edition? If so you'd have the Bf109F-4, Bf109G-2, Ju87D-3 and He111H-6 on the German side and LaGG-3 Series 29, Yak-1 Series 69, IL-2 Model 1942 and Pe-2 Series 87. Standard edition have 8 aircraft while Premium has 10 (8+2).

It's important to note that the way that aircraft are counted in the original IL-2 and the way they are counted here are different. For example, the Pe-2 Series 87 in IL-2: Battle of Stalingrad also has the powered turret modification which makes it a Series 110 (2 in 1). The Spitfire IX in IL-2: Battle of Bodenplatte has options for clipped wings and a Merlin 70 engine. These combinations in the original series were represented by 3 different Spitfire IX versions in the list (3 in 1). The FW190A-8 for Battle of Bodenplatte comes with modifications that make it into the F-8 and G-8 variants too (another 3-in-1).

I just bought battle of stalingrad, and I read somewhere on steam "200 some flyable planes.." it's probably that many modeled in game, just not that many flyable, as in the quick mission builder I can see a bunch, just cant fly them.

Nope, just some mods like extended graphical settings and what not. There are "plane" mods but all they do is add in non-historical deployments of certain planes in some Career campaigns, e.g. K-4's in Moscow.

I dont see any unlock buttons on this site or in game. My account is linked but I have 1C versions anyways. Point is I have a question. Ive seen locked weapons or mods. In SP. It made sense for a LA5 not to have the new engine to be an LA5F in Sept 42, but Im curious as to why my Mig3 in Moscow couldnt add in 20mms instead of its 12.7mm?

Of course the 20mms shred planes better but itd an art aiming them with the lower m/v and they have low ammo. The 12.7/.50s have a tendency to kill people and rupture lines. Even a burst in a wing is almost guaranteed fuel or engine smoke..

Plus the German planes are do crammed they cant afford those kinds of bullets. Esoecially say a Tiger or 47. 6 or 8 .50 calls hutting a bomber is gonna start killing crew. On a German fighter itll shred it and if you hut the fuselage the pilots got a faur chance of getting shot.

Somewhat less aircraft for a much greater increase in aircraft fidelity. That obviously comes with a price and it means that it takes more to build planes and they are more expensive. Still, IL-2 finds a balance here by not being ultra detailed with systems fidelity while making sure that they essentially feel and fly right.

Allow mods lets people do all kinds of cool things. One thing it doesn't do is add more planes. That's a complex process and limited to 1CGS (the developers) and now an external third party development group that's rebuilding the WWI Flying Circus aircraft and also the U-2VS Collector Plane.

I started Career mode in Battle of Moscow as a german pilot. If I will purchase soviet and german DLC planes for Battle of Moscow, Battle of Stalingrand, Kuban etc, will AI use those planes during my Career? Or are those only for the human pilot?
