*Note: For some people who create a new account on X, your account settings may already be set to receive message requests from other people you don't follow. These requests are kept separate from your other DMs until you accept them. You can accept the request to continue the conversation. To disable message requests, go to your Settings.
Navigate to your DMs and tap or click on the search bar. From there, type in keywords and names of the conversations you're looking for and messages, groups, and people with those keywords or names will populate. To go directly to the message, tap or click on the search result.
You can receive messages from anyone if you check the box next to Allow Messages requests from everyone in your Privacy and safety settings on twitter.com. You can also adjust this setting via the X for iOS or X for Android apps. If you enable this option, anyone can message you and add you to group conversations.
Note: Disabling the Receive messages from anyone setting will not prevent you from continuing to receive Direct Messages from someone you don't follow if you have a prior conversation already established with that person. You will need to either report the conversation or block the account to stop receiving Direct Messages from that person.
Deleting the message will remove it from your inbox. Note: Deleting a message will not prevent that account from sending you messages in the future. You will always have the option to block the account or report the conversation. Blocked accounts cannot send you messages, unless you unblock them.
Additionally, by default, we filter lower-quality requests from the Requests section of your inbox for the X for iOS and Android app. When enabled, the quality filter for message requests hides conversation requests we think may be lower quality. You will not receive notifications for filtered requests, but these messages will still be viewable behind the low quality filter that exists at the bottom of the Requests section of your inbox.
Note: If you have the Allow message requests from everyone setting enabled under the Direct Messages section of your Privacy and safety settings, it is possible to disable and enable the quality filter from your privacy settings. This feature is only available currently on iOS and Android devices.
In your case, are there cases where would you want to be able to allow a subset of people people who can PM you to send you direct messages on chat? Or would you always want to stop everyone from being to be able to send you direct messages on chat?
We are SEC regulated so we have personal messages disabled for our entire site for legal reasons so we would need for that setting to apply to person to person chat messages as well before we can use it.
Well i want to play warframe without private messages of friends and when they text me, a text will automatically come a text. i remember this when a friend who doesn't play warframe anymore did this and can't remember the what he did.
Hello! We use the mattermost free version, which we set up on our own, but now we need one feature, namely hidden messages. That is, if there is a channel with a certain group of people, one of which is the administrator, it is not necessary for the administrator to see all messages, and when user A sends a message to a specific user B, this message was seen only by him, others should not see. Please tell me how this can be done? Maybe this feature is in the paid version of the enterprise, then we would buy it)
This can be done by private messaging (direct messaging) a individual user. The conversations are between just two people, or a group of individuals if you were to so desire. If you want to initiate a direct message with a individual, right click on their profile and click message, and then you will be in a private message with the individual. I hope that helps!
I understand that this problem can be solved through individual messages, but the essence of the task is to have a chat with 10 people, one of whom is an administrator, and if one of them addresses a message to someone, other people have not seen this message , and only the recipient, recipient, and admin need to see it
Users can start a new conversation by clicking the "Message" button in the other user profile header or in the profile card shown in the member directory. Once the message button is clicked, a pop-up appears where users can easily exchange texts, links and emojis.
Users can use the "Who can send me private messages?" setting in the account Privacy tab to control who can send them private messages. Pre-defined options: "Everyone", "Nobody". If the Followers extension is activated, users are given additional options "Only people I follow" and "Followers". If the Friends extension is activated, users are given additional option "Friends".
Users can block someone in messages by clicking on the "Block user" icon. They can review blocked users and unblock them in the Blocked Users section in the account Privacy tab. Just click the Unblock button under the name of the member.
The extension sends the New Message Reminder email periodically with timeout selected by the setting "Send email notifications If user didn't read message for [n] hours" several times. The maximum number of reminders depends on "Send email notifications not more than [m] times". The extension stops sending reminder email once the recipient read the message.
If the Real-time Notifications extension is activated, the user can control if they want to receive real-time notifications for new messages in their account settings. Users can turn on/off receiving a notification for new conversations using the "When someone sends a private message to me" setting in the account Web notifications tab.
Private Message Box keeps secure all your SMS, MMS and Call-Logs of private contacts. You can hide your text from unauthorized access. Your privacy is our high priority objective. Nobody knows about your texts even if he has full access of device.
Do you want to hide your private conversations? Worried on messages from one friend checked by others, then Private Message Box is for you. It saves SMS/MMS/Call Logs of secret contacts behind PIN pad.
This wikiHow teaches you how to hide text messages on an Android phone or tablet. You can do this by archiving messages in the Messages app, or by installing an app with a password-protected mailbox feature such as GO SMS Pro.
We all hide messages for different reasons. It could be that you don't want your partner to see them because it can ruin the perfectly good surprise you've planned for them, or that your workplace strongly frowns upon receiving texts during work hours.
The message sent from the person you removed (or anyone not in your contacts) will now go into a list kept separate from the rest of your messages. To access it, tap Filters on the top-left corner of the Messages app, and then tap Unknown senders.
Some conversations are very private and need an extra layer of security. For this, use Hidden Chats. Accessed by PIN code only and kept in a different section of Viber, here you have the ultimate private chat.
The methods listed above will hide text messages on your phone from people who do not have your password, PIN or unlock patterns. However, if a family member or friend is able to bypass your lock screen, you will need a dedicated app to hide your text messages on your Android phone.
Message Locker can not only lock your text messages, but also other messaging apps you might use. With this app, you can add a PIN/pattern lock to all of your messaging and email apps. One PIN/pattern will lock them all. It automatically detects messaging apps on your phone. Everything from Hangouts to Snapchat can be locked.
Private messaging is a way to discuss topics privately member-to-member or in ad-hoc groups of members. Private messaging can be useful when communicating the reason behind a moderation action, when asking for semi-private information within a support question, or for other non-public communication needs.
Private messaging can generally be initiated by hovering over a member within the community and selecting Send a private message, selecting New when viewing private message conversations, or by navigating to a member's profile and selecting Connect > Send a private message. Either way, you'll be taken to the new conversation form:
To start a conversation, identify the recipients using the member look-up on the Find recipients... field and provide a message in the message editor at the bottom of the form. If you selected to send a private message through a member information pop-up or through a member profile, the recipient will be pre-populated. As you change the recipient list, if you have previously had a conversation with that combination of recipients, the existing conversation will be shown so you can continue it.
As you navigate throughout the community, any new messages in private message conversations will show as an unread count badge on the private message icon in the site banner. Clicking the private message icon will show unread messages. You can click View all to view all private message conversations. When you have active private message conversations, they will be listed on the left of the current conversation. Select a conversation to view it:
From here, you will be able to see if the other participants in the conversation are online and who, if anyone, is currently typing a message. You can send a message using the editor at the bottom of the conversation. When you're ready to send a message, you can press enter/return if Enter to send is checked or click Send otherwise.
