to Prepaid Electricity Consumer Forum (South Africa)
Greeting Everybody,
I have decied to start a consumer forum to try and assist and clarify
prepaid electricity related queres from the general public. Prepayment
is a specialised field of technology and since it is administered by
local municipalities, Eskom and private companies there tends to be a
lot of confusion on how things work or should work.
The forum will accept any questions and contributions of a
constructive nature. It is not intended as a advertising portal so
occosional moderation will be applied if the forum is abused in any
way.
You might wonder if I am qualitied to contribute to this forum.
Well... you decide.
Jacques is a graduate from the University of Pretoria with a B.Eng
(Electronic) degree. He joined Energy Measurements (Pty) Ltd in 1996,
now Landis+Gyr, and has been involved in the utilities prepayment
industry ever since. Starting as a software engineering he quickly
moved into Systems product management and was eventually appointed as
Research and Development Manager, metering and system product
development. Jacques has extensive industry knowledge about
electricity and water prepayment. He is still involved in product
definition, product development and marketing of prepayment systems as
well as water and electricity meters. He is actively involved in
industry association and working groups covering all aspects of
prepayment water and electricity i.e. NRS, IEC (International
Electrotechnical Commission), SANS (South African National Standards)
and SABS (South African Bureau of Standards). Jacques is working as an
independent prepaid systems and technology engineering consultant. He
provides consulting services to customers locally and internationally
on water and electricity industry best practices, current trends,
related IT systems, metering and AMI (advance metering
infrastructure). His broad knowledge and practical experience allows
him to offer insight in to business processes that aid in business
improvement and development. Customers include various municipalities,
Eskom, Johannesburg Water, cellular mobile operators and related
solution providers operating in the prepaid services market. Jacques
is a member of SAIEE (South African Institute of Electrical Engineers)
and is also a registered professional engineer with ECSA (Engineering
Council of South Africa).
I look forward to seeing this forum grow and add value to the general
public.
Regards,
Jacques
