Prepaid electricity in a complex vs Sectional Titles Act

Hi All,

I came across a interesting question on the web forum at www.sto.co.za
run by Prof. Paddock.

The question:
"Does the sectional title act cater for only 1 unit owner switching
his/her electricity to a prepaid meter?"

The answer by Prof Paddock:
"No, the only mention of electricity meters is in the prescribed
management rules where, dealing with the installation of meters for
all sections, rule 33(3) states: " ...the trustees shall, if so
required in writing by a majority of owners, procure the installation
and maintenance in good working order, at the body corporate's cost,
of separate meters to record the consumption of electricity, water and
gas in respect of each individual section and the common property."

Thought this might be of relevance to some.
