Sotoday we going to be discussing about staffs and solfa notations

So first all **what are notations? **

According to my own understanding notations are the rhymes in music that guides am instruments and sometimes the singers on how to flow with the music and even the percussionist (ps: when I say percussionist I mean those who play the drums)

So firstly we would be discussing on staffs

I would want to apologize for no video in my posts lately, there haven't been power supply in my area for weeks now so I can power up my camera or keyboard for a video., apologies please.

Staffs helps one to know the actually limitations of each key on whether minor or major (please bear with me, would explain this on my next post)

Each key has its own staff configuration which is different from other like for instance the image above shows the staff for key C major and below it's an image showing the staffs of key F major

The solfa is the easiest part of music cause everyone knows the normal do-re-mi-fa-so-la-ti-do

If you do? Congract you the sofa

But the hard part of solfa is trying to make is part of you, yea!

I guess we have all met someone who plays any instruments and once the person hears a sound he plays exactly

Why?

Because he/she understands the solfa fully well

Simply put, solfa is a system for naming each note of the major scale. You can apply solfa to minor scales and every chromatic note too, but at its core, solfa means you give each note in the major scale a short name: do re mi fa so la ti and do again.

Doing an aural exercise in every lesson is so important because it helps with so many other aspects of music learning. Apart from the obvious benefits of being able to play by ear more easily, it also helps with general listening skills.

Yes, sight singing tests in exams are actually the reason I first started using solfa. Now we use it for ear training, transposing, theory and sight singing (regardless of whether they take an exam or not). ?

Curwen hand signs often go along with solfa scale, like a signlanguage. The reason these are useful is that it provides amovement to go along with the pitch that we're singing. Moving ourbodies at the same time as singing, and thinking and using ourvoices gives us another way to understand what we're doing. It engages another part of our brains, which means that we workmore actively and understand what we're doing. Using hand signsalso means that you have a way of working on inner hearing withyour students.

These syllables are especially valuable for singing since theynaturally fit the human voice. The hand signs have an internal logicto them which makes a lot of sense once you see them in action. They give a physical placement for vocal pitches that helps withmemory and singing on pitch. It is best to use both hands for brain coordination and body balance. Using both hands activates bothsides of the brain, and also helps students model teachers withoutleft-hand or right-hand confusion.

Teaching Solfa system to preschoolers is particularly beneficial. First of all it is a simple and concrete way to direct them in singingtogether. When students are using them themselves they're alsousing their kinesthetic sense. They are moving, and this helps themto learn and digest the information in a different way. The other thing that these hand signs are really useful for is innerhearing, that is when we hear music in our head. Having hand signsis a great way to helps students not only to develop their innerhearing but also their understanding of the meaning of the musicwhen they hear it in their head. You don't have to be a master at singing in Solfa or sight-singing inorder to use this system with your students. The more you use itthe more you will find it useful and beneficial for them.
