Crackingyour knuckles may aggravate the people around you, but it probably won't raise your risk for arthritis. That's the conclusion of several studies that compared rates of hand arthritis among habitual knuckle-crackers and people who didn't crack their knuckles.

Even if knuckle cracking doesn't cause arthritis, there's still good reason to let go of the habit. Chronic knuckle-cracking may lead to reduced grip strength. And there are at least two published reports of injuries suffered while people were trying to crack their knuckles.

Hopefully you'll never get trapped in your ring, but if you do, know that jewelers regularly saw off rings. This goes for gold, silver and platinum. This does not work for titanium and alternate metals.

I turn the saw blade continually until the blade breaks through to the guard. I end up with a very narrow line through the gold. Since gold is relatively soft, as is silver and platinum, this works. With harder metals like tungsten or titanium, you need an electric rotary ring saw.

Many jewelers charge between $25.00 and $50.00 to saw off a ring. Some charge more for a ring that would shorten the life of the saw blade. Other jewelers say they do not charge for sawing off a ring if the client uses them for the re-building work on that ring.

I was mystified why so many people had to have their rings sized larger when they hadn't gained any weight. A doctor client of mine said he thought that the ears, nose and knuckles kept growing, at a very slow rate. I never forgot that he said that.

As a 33 year jeweler I have sized an incredible amount of rings larger. The causes for these enlargements needed have included, finger sprains and other finger injuries, medication that causes swelling, spider bites where the swelling never goes all the way away, weight gain, pregnancy, weight lifting and stress on the fingers.

A great number of sizing jobs I've been asked to do are on people who have owned and worn their rings for over 20 years. Many have not gained much weight or mentioned any injuries. I tend to think that the good doctor knew what he was talking about.

These were great stories! I may call you one of these days to have my ring sawed off. It is nearly impossible to remove. And if I have you make me a pretty wedding band, my current ring will have to be taken off first!

Lynn, Coming to the rescue is really fun. Yesterday thanks to this post I met a new client and sawed off her ring. She and three people were watching raptly and cracking jokes about sawing her finger off and the proximity to the hospital. I was laughing with them quite a bit. Therefore it took twice as long to saw off her ring. She was so happy and relieved to get it off. Her huge smile just made my day.

Great set of knucks and great customer service. They fit in my pocket without the added weight of metal. I had a discrepancy with my original order but it was taken care of immediately. I wear a size 8 glove and the large size was perfect for me.

I've carried the same stainless steel heavy knucks almost every day for nearly 10 years, i finally got sick of having to turn around and go back to the car to stash it every time i spotted metal detectors! These are not only sneaky, but they fit really nice in the hand, sturdy, and alot lighter for wearing sweatpants or basketball shorts! You guy's made a fan out of this guy! I bought one of these about a year ago and suggested they chamfer the lower part of the finger holes for comfort. I recently got another one and they actually listened! SO much more comfortable. applause all around!

Honestly wasn't expecting much for the price, but these are incredibly strong. I tested against trees, concrete, steel.....i could only imagine cracking someone in self defense. I got two of these and with my strength i felt like i could eventually punch down a tree with them. Lol A+++ incredibly strong and far better than I expected. Highly recommend if you need to tenderize anything.

The knucks are very well made (with a few machine/mold marks). I ordered the wrong size; got the large and medium would have given me a better fit. That said, they work great, feel good and boost confidence even when in your jacket pocket. I used them on the heavy bag and they were fine (pinched a little due to the mis-sizing on my part). They were wobbly when trying the speed bag; would not recommend. Whatever you choose for training purposes, get a solid fist tape to protect your fingers, especially the knuckles. Overall, they give a sense of being able to defend yourself in a fist fight if necessary.

I like the fit and feel, not as heavy as metal knucks but you expect that. I have large hands so ordered the XL and they fit good, enough to be snug on my hand, loose enough to get off when I want them off. Carries well in my jeans or jacket pocket for an extra margin of clout when I need it.

Skeptical at first,i ordered them anyway.Once i got them,i was surprised at how light they are and figured they would be fragile-WRONG!Took them out and took some shots on an oak tree (about 2 ft. diameter),not a scratch except in the tree bark,none on me.Good value-going to give a set as a gift and will highly recommend them.

It might be the crack of your knuckles when you press on your fingers. Maybe your shoulder joint snaps when you lift your arm or your knee pops when you bend down. Most people have joints that make noise.

Researchers have studied the mechanics of joint cracking since the mid 1900s. Early observations found that a cracked joint will not crack again for about 20 minutes. More recent imaging studies and mathematical modeling shed light on this finding. They suggest that the noise may be due to the collapse of bubbles inside the joint that naturally accumulate.

Another source of noise in a joint is from the tendons that connect muscles to the bones. Everyone's anatomy is a bit different, so some people may have bones that stick out a little more than others. When the tendons move over these bumpy areas, they can create a snapping sound.

As you get older, deterioration of the cartilage between your joints due to wear and tear can lead to arthritis. Some people develop arthritis earlier in life due to genetic factors, but it occurs to almost everyone sooner or later.

As the cartilage wears down, the bones rub against each other. This causes pain, swelling and a grinding noise that you may be able to hear. This noise is a little different than your average knuckle popping. It may be more of a crunchy sound when you move.

I couldn't find any drop rates on the internet anywhere, so I killed knuckledragger 100 times and got the hornet 4 times. 4% may not be accurate, but that's what I got through trial and it will be the same drop rate on Normal, TVHM, and UVHM.
