I've been considering switching to Apple Music from Spotify for a while now, but because I use Windows, and iTunes on Windows is borderline unusable, the only option I had for listening on the PC was the web player. The problem with that was that previously, streaming through the web player was limited to 64kbps, which is noticeably much lower quality than normal.
Thought I should post a quick update on here to let people know just in case there's others like me who were holding off specifically due to this! The last post I can see on this sub mentioning the quality 2 months ago mentioned it was still at 64kbps, so I'm guessing it's a recent change that they've made.
To me, it is clear that 64kbps Opus is not suitable for stereo music. While it has advantages such as small file size, its efficient and fast to encode and decode (great for VoIP), and extends far into the high end even at low bitrate. The downsides outweigh the advantages for stereo music at this time.
Through multiple songs I observed the same pattern - A burst of data as the next track began, then a trickle of data throughout the song. It appears to buffer most or even all of the song, then pause between tracks to do it again. On average, I saw 2MB per track, with 1.7MB during the initial burst and 0.3MB throughout the track. This is consistent with the HE-AAC standard, as most of these songs were a little over 3 minutes in length.
The approximate times are based on the case in which you transfer or record only 4 minute songs (not including videos and photos) in the MP3 format. Other playable audio file format song numbers and times may differ from MP3 format.
I have downloaded music from youtube and I am wandering wheather or how I can improve the quality of the sound. Is conversion to a higher bitrate possible? Is there anything else I could do? The music I have downloaded has a bitrate og 64kbps. Can I convert it to a higher bitrate and improve quality?

When I download iTunes apps, music, etc.. content, the download speed fluctuates a lot and usually falls to around 64kbps. This is very impractical and time-consuming.Whereas, if I download other files through my browser, I get 512 kbps (my actual connection speed. I use a broadband connected with a cable, not WiFi).
