Career Mode Breakdown
When you first begin the game, you'll be able to choose your car between the: Peugeot 206, Ford Focus, Toyota Corolla, Nissan 240SX, Mazda Miata MX-5, and the Honda Civic. The Peugeot 206 and the Nissan 240SX have the best Acceleration, the Nissan 240SX has the best Top Speed, and the Mazda Miata MX-5 has the best Handling. At the beginning of the game, it doesn't really matter which one you choose, although the Miata MX-5 is probably the best choice for beginners, due to its handling capabilities. The first five races will introduce you to the different race formats in the game, such as Sprint X, Circuit, and Drag. After they are done, you'll go into a contract with a sponsor.
For reference, the first time you get sponsored, you have to choose between four offers, the second time between three offers, the third time between two, and for the last time you'll only have one offer. Each time you sign with a Sponsor, you commit to win a certain amount of races. You always have to win three races of sponsor's choice, a set amount of U.R.L races, and many races of your own choice. The first time is three U.R.L and 9 of your choice, the second is five U.R.L and 19 of your choice, the third time is seven U.R.L and 29 of your choice, and the last sponsor is 9 U.R.L and 34 of your choice.
There are four different icons on your map. A yellow triangle represents an opponent for Outrun races. Solid coloured dots are shops that you can visit. Coloured doughnuts are ordinary races, and X icons are sponsored races that you need to race. Sponsored races are tricky because they change depending on the sponsor, as well as what stage you are in the game, but you get a cash bonus for finishing a sponsored race.
This is the first U.R.L race you'll compete in, and since your car is not exactly running like a bat out of hell, things should be a little bit easier for you. The only turns to worry about here are during the second half of the race, where you'll have to drift through them. If you're having trouble with that, try decreasing your speed before entering the turn, and go through it gently.
Like the first URL race, this one isn't too hard either. There are two sharp turns that are a little bit tricky, not because they're sharp, but you'll have to go through a turn in the opposite direction immediately after leaving the first turn. At this stage of the game you shouldn't have too many problems though, since your car will be so slow that you won't have to exert extra effort to get through these parts.
This is a pretty bearable race, without too many frustrating points. The only real sharp turn here is turn #7, and it's pretty much the same as the turn from BST #2. The real problem is the second turn. While it's a slight turn, it's also on a decline, which means that if you're not aligned parallel to the road when you take off, you risk completely messing up your entire race due to your car's erratic behaviour once you land. Make sure that you enter this turn completely straight to avoid any problems.
The fourth track in Bayview features the same trouble spots as BST #3. Make sure not to enter the jump on an angle and you'll be fine. Turn #3 in this course is relatively easy to tackle, despite it being a 90 degree turn.
The final course at Bayview is an absolute beast to overcome. Most of your trouble will be right at the beginning of the course, which features two extremely quick turns in succession. You can probably get through this set of turns by drifting into the first turn and then slowly navigating your way through the other one, but that can kill your time if you're striving for the best lap. Another technique to do is to powerslide through the first turn, and then immediately powerslide into the next one. Just make sure that no rivals are around you to mess up your efforts.
Unlike the Bayview circuits, the Airport tracks are a little bit different because you'll not only have to contend with some vicious turns, but the narrowing of tracks also. The first track at the airport isn't bad, but it gives you a taste of what's to come.
Most of this high speed track isn't too difficult to overcome, but the very beginning and end of the course will give you nightmares if you aren't careful. At the beginning of the race, hang back and let the others guide you through the first couple of turns to get a feel for them. The middle of the track is easy enough since it opens up for most of it, but the trio of turns near the end of the track can be really difficult if you don't slow down enough. Once you enter that straightaway leading to the first turn, slow down and be prepared to take it slowly, and you should be okay for the next two turns. The final set of turns is actually really good for losing rivals who are trying to bump you. Try to ram them into a corner to get rid of them for good.
The turn that occurs right after the long and wide straightaway is a major problem, and will be unless you start slowing down quite a bit before the turn. See the numbers on the side of the track before the turn? Slow down once you hit '5' and you should be okay. Other than that, the two sets of turns at the beginning of the race can be troublesome after the first lap is completed, since you'll be going at full speed, and most likely you'll be in a pack of cars. Take them slow, and don't try to slide through them. Instead, slow down and carefully navigate your way through them.
This course isn't too bad compared to other U.R.L courses. The only place you'll have some trouble will be right at the beginning of the course, where you have to make a wide, sweeping turn in narrow confines. Midway through the race there are a couple of opposing turns that can be taken by slowing down and drifting from side to side. Take advantage of the unusually long straightaway by using your Nitrous.
The narrow sets of opposing turns at the beginning of the course are an absolute nightmare to tackle, especially after the first lap. Slow down during the first lap and allow yourself to get through them without any opposition. Once you are through the first lap, slow down to third or fourth gear in order to get through them. The last couple of turns are also a real doozy, because the track narrows up when you enter the first of two turns. Down shift through the turn and then crank it up again a gear before down shifting again for the last turn. This course is a real nightmare to get through with a full field of competitors, but our best advice is to get ahead during the long straightaway by using your Nitrous, so that you won't have to battle for position during the turns.
The final course in the U.R.L. is very easy compared to the last race that is held in the airport. The only turn you'll have to worry about here is an extremely sharp turn, which is made easier by the fact that the preceding road is very wide, allowing you for a fairly wide turn that will allow you to maintain most of your speed while going through it. Compared to the fifth airport U.R.L race, this one shouldn't be a problem for you.
Need for Speed: Underground 2 is a 2004 racing video game developed by EA Black Box and published by Electronic Arts. It is the eighth installment in the Need for Speed series and the direct sequel to Need for Speed: Underground. It was developed for Microsoft Windows, GameCube, PlayStation 2, and Xbox. Game Boy Advance and Nintendo DS versions were developed by Pocketeers, and a PlayStation Portable version, titled Need for Speed: Underground Rivals, was developed by Team Fusion. Another version for mobile phones was also developed. Like its predecessor, it was also commercially successful, selling around 11 million copies worldwide and breaking sales records in the United Kingdom.[3]
The game entails tuning cars for street races, resuming the Need for Speed: Underground storyline. Need for Speed: Underground 2 provides several new features, such as broader customization, new methods of selecting races, set in a city known as Bayview. The game stars Brooke Burke as the voice of Rachel Teller, who guides the player throughout the game. The game's storyline is presented in a comic book strip. The Nintendo DS port introduces a new feature in which the player can design custom decals to adorn any vehicle in the game.
The story takes place after the initial events of Underground, shortly after the player beats Eddie and his street racing gang The Eastsiders in Olympic City, along with Melissa. Revered as the best street racer in Olympic City, the player wins a race while driving a blue Nissan Skyline GT-R and promptly receives a call from an unidentified individual with an "invitation" to join his team, followed by a threat explicitly disclaiming that he is not "taking no for an answer". Angered, the player immediately hangs up the call and drives to a celebratory party; while talking to Samantha on the phone, they are blinded and ambushed by a Hummer H2 from a dark alley, which rams and wrecks their Skyline. A man with a scythe tattoo on his hand calls to confirm that he "took care of a problem".
Six months later, the player boards a plane to the fictional city of Bayview with a good luck note from Samantha, referring to her friend Rachel Teller, as well as being given a car key bearing the name 'Rachel'. The player arrives in Bayview and is contacted by Rachel, who has left them her Nissan 350Z at the airport car lot, asking to meet at a car dealership; the player can ignore these instructions and race in three events and outruns before Rachel calls demanding her car back, after which no more races will spawn. At the dealership, he buys his first car using the money provided by their insurance company over the totaled Nissan Skyline, and begins to race again.
Rachel becomes the key contact within Bayview. She explains the layout of Bayview street racing scene, introducing the sponsorship mechanics, the Underground Racing League (URL) and actively aids the player afterwards by giving them tips on driving, secret shops, important events and sometimes hidden events. The player soon gains fame and obtains sponsorship deals from winning races - this draws the attention of Caleb Reece and his racing crew The Wraiths.
