Dear Anne and Ben,

I am writing to follow up on a conversation that Ben started a little over a month ago regarding a panel on "Leveraging Your Area Studies Degree" during the Jump Start January series after the winter break.  My apologies for not touching base about this sooner - the PREEA team has been preoccupied with hosting four speaker events over the past two weeks.  With these events now behind us, we are able to turn our attention to activities coming up in January, and we would be happy to assist with the area studies panel.

At your convenience, please let me know if you have a particular day and time in mind for the panel.  As I understand it, PREEA would be helping out with conference room reservations and advertising, most likely in conjunction with the other region-focused student organizations.  Please let me know if this is an accurate understanding and if you have spoken yet with any of the other student groups.

The PREEA Executive Council (cc'd on this message) looks forward to working with you on this event, and we wish you both a very happy Thanksgiving!

Best regards,

Hi Ben,

Sounds like a great event - thank you for the update.  We would be happy to advertise to our members, and we will let you know if we come up with suggested questions/topics and speakers when we reconvene after the Thanksgiving break.

Hello Kellen,

Thanks for reaching out. The idea has changed a little bit as the area studies centers have stepped forward to help organize the event. Now, the panel will be organized by the various SFS centers (CERES, CCAS, CLAS, CGES, and Asian Studies) with the participation of our alumni. It would be great if PREEA could advertise the event to your members one we have the details nailed down, but there is no need to trouble yourselves with the organization outside of that.

At last word (please correct me Anne if I am wrong) we have booked the CCAS boardroom for 12:30 to 1:30 in the CCAS boardroom on Friday, January 17th. We will make an announcement when we fix the speakers list in a week or two.

Thanks again for getting in touch. Any suggestions you have for question topics or speakers would be most welcome, and we will be in touch about further details as they come up.

Have a happy Thanksgiving,
Ben.
