Hello PREEA Members!

To send this semester out with a bang, PREEA has two great events coming up!  Details below.  Hope to see you all there!

REMINDER: Monday, April 14th at 4:00 PM: The European Project After the Ukrainian Revolution (Mortara Center Conference Room)

SAVE THE DATE: Tuesday, April 22nd at 3:30 PM: Exploring Careers in Political Risk (Mortara Center Conference Room)

The European Project After the Ukrainian Revolution

Former Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovich’s decision not to sign an Association Agreement with the European Union started protests that ultimately led to his removal from office and the destabilization of Ukraine. Several other Eastern European countries have signed association agreements or have initiated negotiations to join the EU. How will the EU and its member states engage with their eastern neighbors during this crisis and amid the myriad challenges that the EU faces in general?

Please join Professionals in Russian, Eastern European, and Eurasian Affairs (PREEA) with the support of the Graduate Student Organization (GSO), on Monday, April 14th at 4:00pm in the Mortara Center Conference Room for a discussion of the European Union and its role in Eastern Europe following the revolution in Ukraine. Featuring distinguished speakers: Professor Jeffrey Anderson, Director of the BMW Center for German and European Studies, and Professor Angela Stent, Director of the Center for Eurasian, Russian, & East European Studies, both of Georgetown University. Food will be served.

Exploring Careers in Political Risk

Join Professionals in Russian, Eastern European, and Eurasian Affairs (PREEA), with the support of the Graduate Student Organization (GSO), for a panel discussion on Exploring Careers in Political Risk.  This panel discussion, featuring practitioners from five top firms, will focus on the political and regulatory issues that companies face in Eastern Europe and Eurasia, as well as general mitigation techniques and career opportunities in this field as a whole.  Learn more about this rapidly expanding profession on Tuesday, April 22 from 3:30 to 4:45 PM in the Mortara Center Conference Room.  A late lunch will be served.
