Hi all,

Today is Winston Churchill's 132nd birthday. Here's a quote from the great man describing the qualifications of a prospective politician. In light of the widely misunderstood market predictions on the probability of GOP Senate Control in the last US mid-term elections, churchillian wit would seem to apply just as well to aspiring political prediction markets. Enjoy!

"The Ability to foretell what is going to happen tomorrow, next week, and next year. And to have to ability afterwards to explain why it didn't happen."

Hi --

Winston was involved in some interesting prognostications. One with George
Bernard Shaw comes to mind.

GBS sent WC two tickets to his opening night in London. He wrote in the
card...

Dear Winston, Please find enclosed two tickets to my London opening for you
and a friend -- if any. Regards, GBS

A few days later GBS got a return post from WC with the tickets enclosed and
a note as follows --

Dear George, So sorry, can't make the opening night. Please send two tickets
for the following night's performance -- if any. Regards, WC
