Hello from Dublin!

At the Prediction Markets European Summit on 11-12 October I am
chuffed to have a speaking slot.
Thanks in advance.

It occurred to me that perhaps I should let the "market" (i.e. the
attendees) decide what it wants to hear from Intrade.

If there is any theme you would like me to focus on please let me know
ASAP by email (john.delaney AT intrade.com). I already have a few
requests from attendees and of course there will be ample time for
Q&A.

Best regards,

John Delaney

PS. Looking forward to seeing existing friends and making some new
ones.

Hi --

The subtext for your European PM Summit in London is PM Diffusion and Adoption. So, if you have any secrets for how to win and keep new PM traders, that would be appreciated.

Also, on October 11th, in the afternoon, the PM sessions are open and informal conversation. The idea is to lead discussions around the formation and implementation of a prediction markets industry group. There is also ample time for any ad hoc demonstrations and general discussions.

All registered participants, speakers and sponsors are welcome and encouraged to participate in these seminal conversations. Your insight and expertise will help propel your PM community forward. These conversations will advance prediction market industry towards its tipping point.

Your sponsor and host for your summit is Jed Christiansen of Mercury Research and Consulting :: http://blog.mercury-rac.com/.  Jed will host drinks and appetizers after the 11 Oct session. All registered participants, speakers and sponsors are welcome.

Note: your European PM Summit is very popular and near capacity. If you wish to register, please do so in the next 48 hours, before registration closes.

Please contact Sarah V. Jones if you have any questions.

John, since you ask, I think many of us would be interested in learning more about the following issues:

- What is the true relationship between Intrade and Tradesports? It's apparent to all that the companies are not totally separate entities, so what's really going on, and what was the point of splitting?

- Has last year's U.S. law against online gambling, especially the provisions aiming to stop the use of credit cards to fund online gambling accounts, bit significantly into Intrade/tradesports revenue and/or membership?

- How well is (are?) Intrade/Tradesports doing, by the way?

- In the future, is it worth the trouble to remain so focused on the US rather than exploring the more liberal European landscape?

I don't expect that you'd feel comfortable discussing these issues in detail, but if you could give us a better sense of how well your US-focused strategy is working out, you would command our undivided attention.

Emile,

It is wonderfully affirming that you and others are so interested in
Intrade.

I got a couple of similar emails, and others that will influence my
chat.

Even when talking about thorny issues, being able to add what
transparency I can will be a pleasure.

See you all soon.

John

PS: Fear not for my comfort; I seem to have developed a complete
allergy for the stuff ;-)

John,

Unfortunately I will not be there but if possible, I'd like to suggest
the question:

"Is there a possible relationship to be developed between Prediction
Markets and Future Historians?

Hi Benoit,

Sorry you will not be joining us.

A video stream of the event would be good of course.

Thank you very much for the question.

Time permitting, I will comment to your question.

Love to hear your views on same when convenient.

Very best regards,

John

Dear Prediction Markets Group,

I have just received a call from John Delaney who is stranded in
Dublin airport since early this morning.

He asked me to let you know he is likely to arrive late to today's
first session due to fog related delays into Heathrow.

John sends his apologies.

Regards,
