Thought some in this group may be interested in a new book edited by
Robert Hahn and Paul Tetlock, compiling some of the top research papers
on prediction markets, available for free download:

Would there be another way to get this? I can't seem to get the file to open properly on the AEI-Brookings site.

The file has  a .php extension rather than a .pdf extension. The mime type is wrong, so the Acrobat will not open. You can right-click on the file open open this file only with Acrobat. As an alternative, I post the corrected file until Sunday at:

Gentlemen: The book contains a list of "Open Questions in Prediction
Markets" which certainly sparks a few ideas.

While not all of us must necessarily agree with the specific list
(those who have answers to a few of those already ... latest after the
Vienna conference next September ;-) I believe it would be a very good
thing to generate an exhaustive list of questions in the Information
Markets field which we consider important.

Best regards, Hubertus

Sorry, the first link was to the abstract page. This one should go
directly to the PDF:

http://www.aei-brookings.org/admin/authorpdfs/page.php?id=1261

It should work for both for direct browsing and saving as PDF (I just
tried both) but if anyone is still having difficulty let me know and
I'll check on it.

AEI-Brookings Prefers you download the book from their site. Cordially,

Subject: Joint Center publication

Dear Mr. Maloney,

I notice that you have posted an AEI-Brookings Joint Center monograph,
Information Markets: A New Way of Making Decisions, on your website KM
Blogs. Although we appreciate your desire to make this paper easily
available to the public, we kindly ask that you link to this
copyrighted monograph on our website rather than posting the PDF
yourself. That will enable us to keep track of downloads and also
ensure appropriate copyright protection. If you replace the PDF file
with the following link, viewers will be immediately directed to the
paper in its location on our site:

http://www.aei-brookings.org/publications/abstract.php?pid=1058

That would be preferred. However, I hope they have cleared up the
file extension issue that does not allow the PDF to be opened easily
on may systems.

Bob Hahn has asked me to respond to you on his behalf. We appreciate
your cooperation in linking to our paper rather than posting it.

The PDF has been compressed and takes only a few seconds for us to
download.

Some people may have had trouble downloading the file because they were
trying to "save as" directly from the link provided in the Google
group. If this is generating confusion, you might want to make it clear
that http://www.aei-brookings.org/publications/abstract.php?pid=1058 is
not a link to a PDF, but a link to an html page on our website from
which people can download the PDF.

The direct link to the actual PDF is
http://www.aei-brookings.org/admin/authorpdfs/page.php?id=1261

If you have additional questions, please feel free to contact me or our
program manager at jce...@aei-brookings.org

Regards,

Katrina
