With an i386 binary it ought to be fine but apparently it is not. I tried running iMovie HD from the Terminal to see if I could get any details about the error, and I was pleasantly surprised at the results.

OS X YOSEMITE is operating system suitable for working more than playing the game.
I have a problem Wi-Fi if open distributed Wi-Fi. The machine will find, but if the first Wi-Fi machine will find nothing.

I hope that some clever person can rewrite the program and call it imovie7. We could sell millions of the iMovie 6HD upgrade Apple should have written. Every new iMovie is a complicated as Final Cut Pro.

I will not understand why Apple ruined so beautiful software like this. The fun thing is I find the last imovies incredibly confusing and disorganized while I listened they have changed thinking it is more user friendly. LOL

To everyone who said thanks just wanted to say you welcome, and hope everyone had a great new year. Your appreciation is great to hear and I was in the same boat as many of you so it is with great gratitude that I passed the knowledge down.

This is brilliant!! Thank you so very very much indeed.
I had been carefully nursing an old old iMac along simply because it ran iMovie HD. Last weekend the iMac gave up the ghost, and I was frantic. Not only did I have iMovie documents in progress, but I had tried the newer iMovies that came with my new computers and had been horrified by how unsophisticated they were.
Now I have iMovie HD on both my OSX.6 and my OSX.9. I am over the moon! Thank you again. You are a life-saver!

Reinstalling it, is the only way I know how to fix it, I had a similar issue, I recommend installing it using the files provided, I have not had a single problem since reinstalling it using the files on this website, prior to that I had one from before and I experienced the same exact problem your describing. If you need the files from a previous iMovie project is described in previous comment. Good luck and hope everything works for you.

Okay so this is what I would do, open a blank TextEdit document and the one your trying to edit. Copy and paste the contents of the one your trying to edit to the newly made document. Alter it and save it as the same exact name as the other document. Then delete the old one and paste the newly created one in the same folder the original one was (may have to put password to delete it or/and to paste in the destination).

After upgrading to El Crapitan I was heartbroken that I lost my favorite movie editor I Movie 6 . I wrote a feedback letter to Apple telling them how much I hated the new I Movie 10.1.2 , begging them to give us I Movie 6 back, then resigned myself to swapping cables and using my 2006 Mac Mini where I Movie 6 exists in all its original glory. Then I found this post which restored it to me both with Terminal and without! I am delighted and very grateful to Rolando, Terri and the others with such sophisticated understanding of software that they could invent this workaround. You seem like geniuses to me. Thanks for enlightening us and sharing your insights! I should add that I changed 6.04 to 6.05 in several places at Info.plist so there would be no conflict, and it seems OK so far.

Hi battaolo, good evening.
I saw these posts.. I am an old time user of iMovie HD6 and want to get it back going again. I have the original DVD to load the software and a MacPro running Sierra.
Can you help me with the steps to install it and get it running..
Thank you.
Gil

iMovie is an easy-to-use video editing software that is loved by users all over the world. In iMovie's long-term development history, there were many times when iMovie was completely redesigned. Plus, when you upgraded your macOS to a version like Catalina, you'll find out that the latest version of iMovie isn't compatible with macOS Catalina.

Trust me, you're not alone. Many people like you are searching the Internet for "where can I download an old version of imovie" or "where to download iMovie for Catalina", especially there are big changes on the new released iMovie, e.g. from iMovie '11 to iMovie 10. The reasons may include, "my favorite feature has gone", "compatibility issue", "imovie not working", or "imovie can't import my video", etc.

In some cases, you actually don't need to download and install an old version of iMovie. But sometimes, the old version is the only solution. This article will share with you where to download an old version of iMovie safely if necessary.

> Part 1. Upgrade to the Last Compatible Version of iMovie
> Part 2. Where to Download An Older Version of iMovie?
> Part 3. Where to Download iMovie '11?
> Part 4. Download iMovie for Mac Alternative

Before downloading the standalone dmg file of iMovie, you should try to upgrade iMovie to the last compatible version automatically on Mac's App Store. This will work if you have or ever have had iMovie 10 on your Mac. Here is how: drag your iMovie 10 app from the Applications folder into the Trash, but do not empty the Trash. Then launch your App Store, login your account, open your purchases folder by clicking on your name at the bottom of the app store side bar, then find iMovie and try to redownload iMovie to your Mac. If the following dialogue appears, click Download to start installing the last compatible version of iMovie to your Mac. If not successful, drag your present iMovie app back to the Applications folder.

If iMovie isn't in your purchase history, there may be a little trick you can use, if you can just get temporary access to a newer Mac with the new macOS. Log into the App Store with your Apple ID and "purchase" iMovie there. Now back to your old Mac to check your purchase history, and you can download the older version of iMovie for your old Mac. If you can't access another Mac, you could also try Virtual Machines (installed another macOS with the help of Parallels Desktop, VMware Fusion or VirtualBox) to install a copy of macOS to buy the iMovie app, then download the older version of iMovie from the App Store on your Mac.

App Store for Mac is the right place to download iMovie. However, it doesn't work sometimes. If so, you would need to visit somewhere on the internet to download an old version of iMovie. Well-know websites are preferred. But these sites are unauthorized by Apple, so be careful because the downloaded files might carry malware. Don't forget to turn on your firewall and malware fighter. Below are websites you could download old versions of iMovie from non-Apple sites. For iMovie torrent file, you need a torrent client like BitTorrent to download iMovie dmg file for installing on Mac.

For more iMovie earlier versions, please google "iMovie old versions" to find a place to download the iMovie installation package. If you're using Windows, an iMovie for Windows alternative is what you need.

Why is iMovie '11 so special? iMovie '11, also known as iMovie 9, is the previous version before upgrading to the new designed iMovie 10. iMovie 9 is released as part of the iLife '11 package. iMovie '11 is a powerful video editor to make picture-in-picture and Chroma keying. It works seamlessly with iDVD and provides you with better compatibility with cameras and camcorders.

If you want to edit video with iMovie '11, the following video will show you how to download and install iMovie '11 to your Mac step by step. For those like written instructions, go to this article: how to download iMovie 9.0.9 >>

iMovie is the best entry-level video editing software in the world. But is it irreplaceable? Of course not. There are lots of video editing applications for Mac that works fast with either the new or old macOS system on MacBook Air or MacBook Pro computers. Movavi Video Editor for Mac is humbly recommended as an iMovie alternative for Mac and Windows. It's the lightweight and fast video editor for macOS from OS X 10.10 or higher.
