jazak Allah khayr for all the past support

As salamu alaykum and jazak Allah khayr for all your support over the
past four years of the prayinjamat.com project. When this opensource
project was launched in the summer of 2006, there were very few sites
like it. Alhamdolillah we shared ideas and our database freely, and
have watched many comparable sites come on-line.

For now, prayinjamat.com is going off-line because the services
provided at the URL are no longer cutting edge (our Google Maps API,
for example, was in great need of catching up with the state of the
art).

The next technological frontier for prayinjamat.com would be a mobile
site -- because so many phones are GPS enabled, a mobile app could be
much more powerful as a tool for updating iqamah times and adding
jamat. If we do not do it, bi'idhnillah, someone else will benefit
the ummah with such an app. Iqamah times remain the greatest barrier
to persons praying in jamat who are not regular musalleen in that
masjid.

With iqamah times in hand, it would be easier to encourage friends and
family to visit their local masajid. And iqamah times would be a big
help to persons moving to (or working temporarily in) a new area.

Ultimately the biggest hope of prayinjamat.com was to work towards
increasing the numbers of Muslims who pray the five daily prayers in
jamat, in their masajid, in local or workplace musallahs, or just
gathering at someone's home or office. May Allah increase the reward
of every person who used this site to encourage someone to pray in
jamat. And may He guide me, you, and all of us to make prayer in
jamat a regular part of our lives.

This google group will stay open for the time being. And the code and
text database(s) from the site will inshaAllah be uploaded here so
that they remain available to developers.
