As salamu alaykum. Right now iqamat-times can be added by people
accessing the web site. But viewing the web site on anything smaller
than a laptop is not practical. So iqamat updates are rarely
submitted by people while they visit their local jamat.
Twitter, however, is a searchable database of posts, many of them
submitted by SMS on phones or via mobile web browsers.
See where I am going?
My idea has a few parts:
(1) A person in a masjid would tweet a message like this: "#fajr
5:30am #[masjid code] @prayinjamat"
(2) An app/script which prayinjamat's admin (me) could run -- the app/
script would use Twitter's API to search for tweets like the one
above. One way to reduce the work of the code would be that only the
tweets of users following "prayinjamat" would be searched. That way
any Twitterer could submit updates.
The app/script would make the necessary changes to the iqamat times of
that particular masjid.
Do any of you know how to write the app?
