to Prayer Support for Alan C. Yu
Dear Prayer Supporters,

Recently I have a growing recognition that prayer is really the source
for all spiritual power. Hence, I also have this growing urge to pray
and to invite people to pray with me.

Taking the just concluded Jubilization as an example. I started a
prayer group and gathered a few students to pray together for the
event, the Jubilant team (including the 3 members on short-term
mission in Africa), and those who would be attending the event. We
started praying together about 4 weeks before the event once every
Tuesday night.

Usually on Tuesday, I would go home first to have dinner with my
family, then return to AFC to pray with the group at 8pm. To be
honest, it is such a hassle going back and forth between office and
home. Can't I just pray at home? Of course, but... it is different.

Yes, praying together with other brothers and sisters is different.
By praying together, we are transformed by God together in the same
direction. Something spiritual and mysterious that cannot be
comprehended happened as we pray together. Through prayer we are
nourished by the Holy Spirit and by each other.

The whole Jubilization team also spent about an hour before each run
of Jubilization praying for the event. Consider Jubilization is only
a 2-hour event, spending one hour praying for it before it starts is a
bit out of proportion. But we do not think so. As we kneeled on the
ground in circle, we could sense that the Holy Spirit is moving among
us and guiding our prayer, and we could probably go on for another
hour if the time constraint was removed. I almost enjoyed this
preparatory prayer time more than the actual event.

But not everybody feels this urge to pray. Some still consider prayer
less important than many other things. It makes me feel lonely
sometimes. But the Holy Spirit reminds me, through many brothers and
sisters, that I am never alone in my prayer. Many of us are standing
together, joining our lives together in and through prayer. How
blessed I am to be among a group of pray-ers!

So, on top of asking you to pray for me, allow me to invite you to
also pray with me for this generation of young people. Thanks.

In Christ,
Alan Yu
