Dear Prayer Supporter,
As I finished teaching sunday school and preaching today, I have
finally completed all my speaking assignment for this year. Yes,
December has been a heavy month for me in terms of workload.
Traditionally, December is always a slow month for me to re-organize
and prepare for the coming year. But this December totally caught me
by surprise. In some occasions, I even had up to 4 (even 5) speaking
engagement over one weekend! The hectic schedule forced me to rethink
about my scheduling. I definitely need to cut down on the frequency of
my speaking engagement.
I have a sense that my "job description" has been changed drastically.
Since the vision sharing gathering on Dec 2 (which you can listen to
its recording at:
http://readingreport.blogspot.com/2008/12/blog-post_06.html),
I have been spending a lot more time talking to and praying with
people from various backgrounds. I have this urge inside me to get the
vision out to as many people as possible. I realize that God has not
only give us this vision of restoration and revival, but also to many
many people in His kingdom. My job is to connect these people so that
we can join forces for His ministry. I really look forward to the
formation of this emerging network.
God has also challenged me in the discipline of confession these days.
On several praying occasions I have been prompted by God confess the
sins of my community, my team, my church, and even our country.
Frankly, this is not something I am familiar with, and I am growing to
believe that the confession of sin is something that we evangelical
christians need to pay more serious attention to.
In the remaining 3 days left in 2008, I will need to start preparing
for my thesis seminar in January. I have always meant to sit down and
organize my loose ideas into something presentable at the seminar but
had not the time to do so. This will be my last course in my doctoral
study, and I am really looking forward to this last trip to IWS and
the sunny Florida.
Thanks very much for your prayer support. I am increasing aware of the
importance of your prayer support in my ministry. Please continue to
pray for me and for God's kingdom among the young people in Vancouver.
Blessings,
Alan Yu
P.S. I have started writing a column for Christian Times, a Christian
newspaper in Hong Kong. My appearance on the paper will begin sometime
in January, and every 5-6 weeks since then.
