Dear Friends:
Once upon a time, Pray and Mean It was a listserv. . .
I haven't tried it in a LONGGGGGGG time.
But I figured it would be worth sending this to folks who were interested in "this sort of thing" "back in the day."
I haven't populated it very much, but I established a website called
prayandmeanit.com
And have been living in Tel Aviv since the end of 2020. . . .
Wishing you well. . . .
Jack
I recorded my daily Shacharit last Monday. (I'm known to do this kind of thing from time to time. . . Kind of relates to my "Pray and Mean It" activities. . . . )
I called the YouTube "Shacharit in Hard Times."
In this case, I've gone back to what I recorded and added captions that explain meanings of the prayers in the service as they are happening -- and added a sense of how we relate to those prayers in "times such as these."
Our hearts are heavy with our losses -- as well as with the carnage being suffered by our neighbors. (Those things aren't the same -- but I believe that both must be in our consciousness.)
I don't believe that my prayers, if recited "just right", will bring miracles from God. I do believe that the practice of prayer is a powerful one and equips me -- and us -- to do our best in this world while we are here.
May I soon feel the need to record a special session of "Prayers in GREAT Times"!
