Hi All

The following are the activities we are doing in BITS-pilani as a part of JOY OF GIVING week.

Sachin Tenulkar, Amitabh Bachhan, Shriya, Surya and Narayana Murthy. What do you think all of these people have in common. Yes u got it right.. they are all associated with the nationwide imitative Joy Of Giving Week and Sachin Tendulkar is it's ambassador.

NIRMAAN in association with the Students Union of BITS-Pilani is conducting JOY FEST from 26th of September to 3rd of October at Pilani campus. This fest is part of the national wide initiative Joy Of Giving Week. I hope, everyone of us is very much familiar with the buzz of these days JOY OF GIVING WEEK and are equally excited to know what NIRMAAN is going to do to make the best out of this situation. Well, this mail will clarify every question that has been going around in your heads. Joy of Giving week is an initiative by Give India wherein all socially active people come together to celebrate the Joy of Giving resources, money or time to people and  experience double the happiness. It is also a platform where all NGOs and Socially active groups can conduct events for publicity and fund raising.

The events that we plan to take up during this week are as follows:

Dinner of JOY: Everyday we see our mess workers serving us and helping us with a smile. Dont you think they deserve it back? Yes they do, and for this we have come up with an initiative called "Dinner of JOY". It is grub for mess workers, chowkis, sweepers and security staff of BITS-Pilani. This is going to be held on 30th of September in VKB mess.

Vastra Samman: It is a nationwide initiative by GOONJ for collection of Old/New clothes, footwear, school material, toys and any monetary contributions. We have collaborated with Goonj in this initiative helping them to raise used articles.

BACHAO: It is an agressive paper campaign for motivating people motivating people to prevent wastage of food water and electricity.The main motto is to bring awareness among the masses and the notices will be put up near water coolers, messes switch boards and in bogs. We wont be wasting paper becuse we will be using one side used papers that are generally wasted by any shop owners.

Wonders of Ur 1 rupee: Everyone of us has contributed to the Save One Rupee a Day scheme. We definitely have witnessed its impact and the smiles it is creating in our respective projects but have U ever wondered about the JOY it is creating in other projects. In this week all the project leads will update their visits in the group and everyone of us is to make sure that we visit at least one of our project. You can also take along your friends to your projects and introduce to them the work that you are doing and how their One rupee is creating WONDERS!!!!( Includes our project Gnyan Bodh which is an evening school for the kids near by our college.All the HPC's are invited to teach and Bitsian junta are being encouraged to teach  kids in this 1 week . TFI  brochures and other material  will be distributed for those people.)

Newspaper Collection: For raising of funds for this week the Students Union has given us permissions to collect old newspapers from the students and professors of BITS-Pilani. Money can be generated by selling these papers to the paper vendors.

A team of eight members from across all the projects have been involved in handling the responsibility of coordinating the fest. We are all eagerly waiting for your involvement in these events to make them a grand success. How can you get involved????

• Collect newspapers from your respective bhawan inmates and coordinate with your respective bhawan coordinator of this fest for their sale.
• Become a part of Vastra Samman by collecting articles from students as well as professors.
• Actively participate in Wonders of 1 rupee program. Forgot to mention ppl this scheme in this week carries marks for the next Rolling Trophy. Every project gets 1 point if your volunteer visits another project and 2 points if any outsider from NIRMAAN comes to ur project. So here is your chance to earn bonus points also.
• Volunteer for serving at the grub on 30th of this month and witness the joy in people's faces.

"Sharing is caring". This is what our parents taught us when we were kids. We were taught to share our lunch and stationery at school with friends, toys with friends in the colony and our belongings with siblings at home. This basic etiquette was inculcated in us by our elders because they realized the importance of giving in our life. As we grew up this feeling got buried with loads and loads of work. We failed to realize the importance of this gesture in life and in turn forgot to smile. Its never too late just wake up my dear warriors and make the best use of this week to show how much u care for others. Any interested volunteer can reply back to me personally and I will direct you to the respective person who could involve you better. There is no doubt that we have been doing good deal of work but you all becoming a part of this initiative can make this event grand success and will benefit our organization a lot in developing good will among our friends and professors. The greater is the response the bigger will be the event. Do not let off this opportunity.
