Hi all,
I am trying to map each channel of my midi controller to a visual effect.
However I can only access the last midi channel used (in the properties/palette).
Has someone succeeded in mapping each midi channel to an effect?
Cheers

Yes, but can't say I have for a while ...

What do you mean by you can only access the last channel used? In the
table of mappings? Or that it's not responding to the right channel
when using the controller?

When you use the controller, do you get the expected values and
channel inside the .last-message property of the midi root component?

Best wishes,

Neil

Hi Neil,
Thanks for your message.
In the midi table I only have one row with the last channel used. Is it possible to create a table with all the different midi channels?
I would like to have a table like this so I can associate channel 1 to color balance, channel 2 to blur, etc

Yes, you need to use the + button for each mapping row you want, and
give it whatever name you want. At the moment you have zero mappings
there.

You need to add a row for each control address you want to connect to.
Rows can have the same controller and channel if you want to control
multiple things from the same controller.

If you double-click or highlight a row you'll also see the range -
values sent are 0 .. 1 by default.

Best wishes,

Neil

Sorry, I have another question, once I am sending the binding from the Midi Editor to the Video Editor.
Which component am I supposed to create in the Video Editor to send the binding to the parameter? Or Am I supposed to copy and paste the channel ID somewhere in the video parameters?
For example here, I want to connect the Channel 2 of my controller to the scale of the video.
Thanks for your help.

That looks correct. Is it not working? Move the controller and check
the last-message property matches both controller and channel.

No it doesn't, that's why I am wondering if I should make some changes in the Video editor and Properties?
The only place where I see value changing is in the Midi properties under "last message", nowhere else in the Video or Midi editor even when I move the controller.

No, that should work, assuming both midi and video roots are running.

Can you share what it says in last message when you move the controller you want for first mapping?

I'll test this feature this week too - just preparing for 5.1 release.

Best wishes,

Neil

Just to follow up, I tested MIDI today. There's a bug when the device
isn't set, which will be fixed in 5.1

However, other than that, controllers should be working fine. Make
sure that the channel matches the Ch. value in last-message, and the
controller matches the value in Data 1. Data 2 is the changing value.
And Cmd should be 176 for any MIDI controller message - anything else
is not currently supported by the built-in mappings.

Hope that helps.

Best wishes,

Neil
