Dear Friends,
All of us from, ComMutiny - The Youth Collective, Pravah, Youth Ki Awaaz, Oxfam India, Must Bol ,The National Foundation for India (NFI) , Wada Na Todo Abhiyan(WNTA), Vishwa Yuvak Kendra, Development Alternatives, Youth Alliance , Manzil ,The YP Foundation , Satark Nagrik Sangathan , Katkatha, ETASHA Society , Jagori , Gandhi Fellowship , Kaivalya Education Foundation (KEF), Halabol, GotStared. At , OurSay , Kat-katha- the puppet arts trust and Purple Mangoes, would like to invite you to the first ever crowd- sourced youth manifesto making event called 'My Space- My Un-manifesto' on 19th Aug at 5 PM at Vishwa Yuvak Kendra.
Why an Unmanifesto? Just like Humpty Dumpty 's un-birthdays in Alice and Wonderland, which are celebrated throughout the year except on the day of the birthday, we want to create spaces for youth where they can engage in politics all the year round in every twist and turn of the political story and not just on voting day.
Through workshops and online dialogs that were initiated in an event in Feb, 2013, we have been collecting thousands of voices of young people. They have spoken clearly and emphatically about what they would like political parties to promise in the coming Delhi elections and next year in the Lok Sabha elections if they want to secure their votes.
Even as we carry on the campaign till the Delhi elections and beyond, we will be revealing an interim list of the Top Ten wishes of youth from the political parties during this event to Meenakshi Natrajan of the Congress and Manvendra Singh of the BJP (and one more MP yet to be finalized) . The Parliamentarians will be engaging in a deep dialogue with young people who are part of this campaign. The dialogue will be moderated by Mr Amitabh Behar, ED, National Foundation for India. The MPs have promised to carry this youth voice to their manifesto committees.
The event will celebrate participation of youth not only in electoral politics but also in every day politics around them. We will be felicitating 80 young people who went on a month long rural immersion through the SMILE in-turn-ship to study and experience societal politics of everyday life and came back with life changing stories.
Come join us for an evening of serious political debate where the participants don't take themselves too seriously. We promise you loads of fun through Clown Theatre, Puppetry and music. By the time of the event we hope to get 5000 youth promises (and counting) through our partners.
We invite you to contribute your voice, too, into the ongoing Youth Unmanifesto campaign at the event.
* The partners list is open. This event is a milestone in an ongoing campaign that we hope will continue to grow. We would love to have more partners in this journey forward. Please do forward the invite to others from your networks who you think would benefit from what promises to be a rich dialogue.
We hope you will be able to join us and look forward to seeing you there.
Please do RSVP by August 17, 2013 by clicking on the YES tab below.
