ATA-TAMA Vollyball Tournament


The highly intense ATA-TAMA volleyball Tournament came to an end when Unicorn Blues defeated Alpharetta One in a high octane thrilling Finals which lasted for 3 sets at Ocee Park on Saturday 28th. 

TAMA in collaboration with ATA conducted a volleyball Tournament as part of encouraging the local talent in Atlanta. The round robin games and quarter Finals were conducted on 21st and 22nd at Ocee Park. A total of 11 teams participated in the Tournament and they put a display of exuberating talent they all possess. The teams were divided into 2 pools where the top teams from both the pools qualify for the semifinals. Unicorn Blues and Vensai Broncos qualified for the semifinals. Quarterfinals was played among the 2nd, 3rd and 4th placed teams from both pools and Alpharetta One and Corpteq United V.C qualified for the Semifinals for the 3rd and 4th Positions.

 A 3 set 25 point Semi Final 1 was played between Unicorn Blues and Corpteq United V.C and Unicorn Blues defeated Corpteq United V.C 2-1 . Semi Final 2 was conducted between Vensai Broncos and Alpharetta One and Alpharetta one defeated Vensai Broncos 2-0 setting up an exciting finals between Unicorn Blues and Alpharetta One. Unicorn Blues defeated Alpharetta One 2-1 in finals and became the champions of the Tournament consecutively for the 2nd time this year. 3rd and 4th position games were played between Vensai Broncos and Corpteq United V.C and Corpteq United V.C claimed the 3rd spot and Vensai Broncos the 4th place. 

All the games were played with great sportsmanship and we thank all the participants for showing up on the reserve day when the games were postponed due to bad weather on 21st. We would like to thank all the participants who acted as umpires for the other teams games as well. They are the pillars of the Tournament success and we thank them a lot. 

The tournament was sponsored by Karun Asireddy, Infosmart Technologies and Kiran Pasham, EIS Technologies and they made sure that the Tournament was organized in a grand style. T shirts were distributed, Snacks and Bananas were made available, Pizzas were ordered for lunch, Water Bottles and Energy drinks were provided to quench the thirst and bronze stone sculptures were presented as Trophies to the top 4 teams of the Tournament. We thank them for their generous contribution for the Tournament. 

Prizes were distributed by Sponsors Kiran Pasham, Karun Asireddy, TAMA President Mahesh Pawar, and TAMA Officers. 

All the games were monitored by TAMA Sports Secretary Sri Harsha Yerneni and TAMA education Secretary Anil Bodireddy and they made sure that all the games were run in a smooth way. Pictures were Captured in a beautiful way By Sridhar Vakiti , Devanand Kondur and Pavan Kumar Tanguturu. Special appreciation needs to be given to all the volunteers Mahesh Pawar, Vinay Maddineni, Raghu Reddy, Sunil Shavali, Venkat Meesala, Sandhya Yellapragada, Aravind Yarram and Venkat Veeraneni who helped us in organizing the Tournament. Sorry if we missed any other Volunteer names but all your help is greatly appreciated. 

We look forward for conducting many more tournaments in the future as well and foster a better health and fitness as well as communal relations to all the residents of Atlanta.

TAMA SCHOLARSHIP 2013 EVENT REPORT


Telugu Association of Metro Atlanta did Scholarship Ceremony on Sep 1, 2013 at Ravindra Bharathi, Hyderabad 9:00am to 1:00pm. The Event was Grand Success. TAMA gave 46 scholarships to 23 districts of Andhra Pradesh. Two Scholarships to each District one boy and one girl among govt scholls who topped in merit. Out of 46 students, 43 students attended the ceremony. Each student accompanied by parent, teacher, or Guardian. Rajeshwar Thiwari Prinicipal Secretary, Education Department, Govt of Andhra Pradesh was the Chief Guest for the Scholarship Ceremony. Sri T. Harish Rao MLA , Sri Sudhakar Reddy MLC, Sri Jerry Kurian President Rotary Club of Hyderabad Mid -Town, Smt. DR. Papolu Rama Devi, Sri Ramu Dosapati, Sri Srinivas Desapathi(praja kavi), Sri Satyanarara EX MLC were Honarary Guests of the Ceremony. 

Sri Rajeshwar Thiwari, the Chief Guest of the Ceremony who introduced the GPA Grading system in Andhra Pradesh, appreciated TAMA for choosing Govt and Zilla Parishat Schools in Awarding the meritorious students. He said he Supports 100% Govt Schools. He praised TAMA's efforts in serving the community. Sri Harish Rao said he pleased that TAMA giving scholarships to Govt Schools. Sri Sudhakar Reddy expressed his gratitude to TAMA by saying TAMA IS THE ONLY ORGANIZATION helping meritorious students among Govt Schools and it is nice that Recognizing District toppers were the best thing. Sri Srinivas Desapathi expressed his words in a song about govt Schools and he appreciated TAMA for doing the scholarship ceremony. Smt DR. Rama Devi said Indians in America are more generous and kind hearted and always helps for good cause. 

Lavu Srinivas, Chairman TAMA Board and Mahesh Pawar, TAMA President’s collective decision to continue the Scholarship project in 2013. TAMA Executive Committee and Board took initiative to raise the funds. Anil Bodireddy helped a lot in raising the scholarship fund. Viju Chiluveru Director TAMA Board created Scholarshp flyer and certificates. 

TAMA Donors are the most important part of the project. Every year student's parents, Teachers, School Principals are expressing so much happiness and blessing to TAMA for doing the scholarship project. Especially Donors are the important part of the project. Student’s feedback will be posted at TAMA Office soon. 

Seetha Vallurupalli Ex President and Chairman of TAMA carried out the project successfully with the help of Lavu Srinivas, Chairman, Mahesh Pawar, Presdient, Viju Chiluveru, Board Director. Seetha Vallurupalli went to India on her own expenses. 

Rotary Club of Hyderabad Mid-Town , and founder member Prasad Papolu was the key in processing the project Successfully. Sudhakr Reddy MLC helped us a lot. Ramana Kalli and Jaya Vasireddy , Prasasd Papolu covered the expenses in India. Without these people the event was not possible.
