It has been brought to our attention that on the 30th and 31st of May, 2011, emails were circulated to users who are EP Managers of some forms in the system with a fake job offer from people claiming to work for, or be affiliated with AIESEC International.
This false job offer, sent as an attachment, carried the TN ID: TN-In-IN-BA-2011-3875, which is an actual existing TN in the system in Bangalore, India but doesn’t have any relation with the TN advertised which is supposed to be in a company called Oil and Gas Nigeria.
These scam emails have false raising details (placing AIESEC International as a raising entity) and multiple types of Traineeship as the Internship Type. Offering a high salary, free accommodation, meals and transport.
We believe the intent of this email was to gain access to personal and financial information of our users by getting users to take on this internship and then send through personal information.
Please be assured, the email itself doesn’t contain a virus, rather it is an attempt to gain your trust to be able to get further information from you.
AIESEC International
disassociates itself from these emails and advises that you inform all members
in your countries to do the following
• do not to respond to this
form OR any other offers from people you are unfamiliar with or that do not
seem legitimate
• do not disclose personal or financial details
Please remind your entities that all legitimate internship offers are listed on www.myaiesec.net and the TN ID in all promotions should match the forms placed in the system.
Important:
· The TN: TN-In-IN-BA-2011-3875 is a legitimate TN in the system. It is from AIESEC in India raised by members of AIESEC BANGALORE and not connected at all to the scam
· AIESEC in NIGERIA does NOT promoting this false TN, are not affiliated to it and do not endorse it. They are also a victim of this scam as well.
If you or someone in your entity believes that they have received a suspicious email, please ask them to write to phis...@ai.aiesec.org so that we can deal with it.
In light of this attempt, AIESEC International advises that you ensure the following measures are communicated and necessary actions are taken in your entities accordingly:
· We will not release the email addresses of EP Managers with the subsequent Available Forms Trackers to ensure we are safeguarding your information and further unnecessary access to this
· Please make sure that in promotion of your internships through emails, you are directing members to go onto the system to view the forms as AIESEC is not liable is you do not clarify and confirm the existence of the internship in MyAIESEC.net
· Please encourage your entities to pass through the entire matching process on the system such that they can be assured of the existence of these internships.
AIESEC International is still looking into the matter and trying our best to combat it. However, as scams sometimes target many companies and appear in various places around the web, we all need to work cooperatively as a network.
Thank you for your co-operation.
