Two questions: I’m going to have U-Haul install a hitch on my car mainly to transport my bike. My questions are, 1- any thing I need to be aware of for that purpose? 2- recommendations for a bike rack, preferably used?

I do know different types of bike racks require different type (size) of hitch. I would recommend finding the bike rack first, then get the hitch to fit.

I got a used Yakima bike rack a few years ago. Because my car is not rated for towing, I had to consider total weight of rack and bikes. Therefore, I was limited to a two-bike rack vs possible four-bike rack.

I also found out different bike racks will accommodate different size/length bikes. The wheel wells on my rack are not adjustable, and will not fit all bikes.

For very similar reasons, we use a Yakima rack that works with wheels down to 20 inches and fits the 1 inch hitch on our 2016 Subaru Outback that Subaru installed which preserved the warranty on the car. There are more options for a 1.5 inch hitch but we've really liked the Yakima rack. It takes at most 5 minutes to install or take off. There are 2 trays and it will handle all tire widths except the super wide ones.
