To All, Seems we are always at the whim of the weather all year round. Such is the luck of our outdoor adventures. This weekend is no exception. I keep hearing that it will be cold through this weekend, and then I continually hear another report that it will warm up Friday and Saturday. Since I have last heard that it will be a high Saturday of 31 degrees, I have decided to have our cross country ski event then. Hopefully, this winter we will have a few more chances so we can consider this Sat. as a warm up, or for some, a time to learn a new skill. So, let's meet at Buffalo Trace in Mahomet at 2PM at the west end parking lot, just north of Interstate 74 [ you will pass over it on bridge ] on Hawley Dr. You can find Hawley just west of Mahomet High School on State Street. Go North. If you need to borrow cross country ski gear, please start by giving us your shoe size, so we can see if we have your size in our collection. Also, please give us your cross country experience, so we can loan you the proper size skis. We also will have poles available that you can pick out yourself. Please dress for the weather and consider you will heat up as you ski. This is great exercise and if for some reason we lose our snow, or it gets messed up,[ a friend reported ATV tracks Wednesday ] we will turn this into a hike. In fact, for you hikers, most beginner cross country skiers, don't go any faster than a hiker on their first day. Me and some of the other experienced skiers will be glad to give instruction as we go. Please come out as this is always a fun activity. For those attending the First Friday Happy Hour at Riggs Brewery, we can talk about the skiing there. We hope to see some of you on Saturday. Mike & Anja Metz
