1) Evan though I did over 10 escripts last year by the deadline, I got a notice from Medicare that they reduced my reembursements by 1%. I didn't know that you have to add on a code G8553 to each billing sent in when you eprescribe at that visit.
2) With regards to meaningful use, the chart notes have to be able to stand up to audit. Medicare/Medicaid audits I hear are worse than an IRS audit.
If it is not in the chart it didn't happen. Although the PF MU dashboard is nice and cute I don't think the Feds will accept it as proof of meeting MU criteria.
Many of the PF reports give patient names and criteria met however the requirement of handing a certain % of patients literature that has been vetted by the NIH Medline Plus
website is not kept track of by name of patient by PF. I therefore paste a template blurb into the Plan section stating " The patient has been provided with
patient and diagnosis specific information from the NIH Medline Plus website".
3) I used MacroExpress to do a simple workaround for lack of a carriage return. I programmed the F1 key (it could be any key or combination of keys) to press the
PF carriage return icon. The response is instant and voila there is a carriage return and a new line when I want it.
