Hey Clare,
So, here's the process...
You send the principal the first letter (attached in this word doc. as letter #1). DOE/principal sends a standard response letter (see attached). Then you send them letter #2 ( in the attached word doc.).
Normally we would not have a problem with our kids being tested but we for sure have extenuating circumstances and it is a bummer the DOE and the principal made us jump through these hoops. The principal even suggested to us to do this in the first place. I am sure other families may have their reasons to opt out...everyone should have a right to do this. The standard DOE response eludes to parents not having that right! Crazy!!
